I heard a rumour about this so I googled it to see if there's any facts about it. Interesting that I found that he actually read the book for the audio edition.

Anyway, further searching led to this, check out his bio page on the HBO site http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/cast/actor/michael_imperioli.shtml

Scroll to the bottom and it clearly says "As a writer, Michael has done work for Dimension on KING SUCKERMAN and is currently writing the screen adaptation of Mario Puzo's OMERTA for Miramax."

I wonder when it was last updated. Hopefully this wasn't old news that has recenltly been scrapped. I got faith in Imperioli, he can't be any worse than Moltisanti.

I just read it too. I don't see a date, but I assume the info is current and correct. Who knew Chrissie was so talented.

How about a little less questions and a lot more shut the hell up - Brian Griffin

I'm doing some searching on this and it looks like they started planning on making it into a movie in October of 1999. Hopefully they didn't scrap the idea!

Actually he has an off broadway theater in Manhatten and is an avid writer. The episodes that were portrayed on Sopranos where he goes to acting school, and is trying to write a book, were taken from his real life experiences of when he was trying to become an actor and then a writer.

As a matter of fact, a lot of the Paulie Walnuts stories on Sopranos are taken from his real life also, especially the plots with his mother, in the nursing home, etc.

How could that be? Omerta [at least my copy of it anyway] has a 2000 copyright date.....

It's not unheard of for a book to bear a later copyright than the (start of the) film adaptation. To Live And Die In LA actually began filming before the book hit the stores, because William Friedkin optioned the book when he read it in pre-release manuscript form.

Seeing this reminds of the one time they showed Christopher writing his movie script early in the series, season 1 or 2 I think, and his grammar was so bad. Characters all talked like cavemen and Chris couldn't spell for shit.

Plus, the book Casino came out at almost the same time as the film I believe. (I could be wrong though... )

Hey, how's it going?
