Hi,
I am 17 years old. I have never read any Puzo's novels.
I am about to become a member at a public library here in Ottawa...

I have some questions and I need some advice.
Is the English language in Puzo's novels hard?
I am originally from Yugoslavia, and my English is not my mother language.

Which book do you guys recommend to me, to read first?

I would agree with the general consensus that The Godfather and The Sicilian are the 2 best. There was a poll in one of these discussion groups a while back.

I've read Omerta, The Fourth K and The Last Don as well. They are all excellent reads, so you can't go wrong.

Just when I get out, they pull me back in.

OK, thanks!

What about the English in the book? Is it hard English, or normal?

I was still struggling a bit with my English when I read The Godfather, and I didn't really have a problem with the use of language. But in all books there are words that need clarification.

Dark Arena shouldn't be too hard to understand. I personally think its Mario Puzo's best.

It was all familiar to him, the farewells to time and place and memory, and he felt no sorrow, no desolation, that finally there was no one, no human being to speed him on his way, only the wind which swept across the ruined continent he could never leave.
