Can someone help me with, or help me find information about, the real-life Salvatore "Turi" Giuliano and other related characters of "The Sicilian?"

This article in short gives a good idea of his life. Although it isn't too short...

Giuliano

It's basically a written paper by a former uni student using Billy J. Chandlers book - King of the Mountain as the main source. I do recommend people to get that book, very good and unbiased.

I've read The Sicilian and The King of the Mountain. If you really liked The Sicilian, you'll really like The King of the Mountain.

My overall take was that Puzo was very accurate historically. Most of the major players in The Sicilian are real.

Just when I get out, they pull me back in.

Although I haven't read it yet, I understand that Giuliano's sister also wrote a book. If you look up Chandler's book on Amazon.com, you'll be able to find his sister's book.

From what I understand, The Sicilian is fairly accurate. My family is from that area of Sicily (my great-uncle actually hid Turi on his farm once) and I've asked them about it, especially about what happened in Portella della Ginestra. Puzo did a pretty good job.

Yes! I have to say Thank You for the article and all the information! I read "The Sicilian" a few months ago and i thought the whole time that the whole story was just fiction. In my opinion it was too good to be true! Now I'll have to check out "The King Of The Mountains"...

How accurate was the Sicilian MOVIE>

I just saw it again over the weekend. I noticed a few differences from the book.

This article that was posted...The way I understand it...is saying that Turi broke his cousin & and an uncle out of prison in Monreale.

Was Aspanu in jail during this time? Or where Passatempo/Terranpve his uncles?

Did Passatempo/terranove/La Venera exist?

What about Candeleria..(la venera's Husband?

I spoke to soon...as i continued reading..Passatempo is his best friend who was killed in Giulianos presence. Who are Don Croce Malo & Benjamino Malo based on?

If Giuliano was helped by the American Mafia, wed assume it would be the Corleones...which i believe Puzo represents the Five Families as a whole. So according to Puzo -The New York Five Families aided the Sicilian Mafia in transporting Salvatore Giuliano to America?-

What was Aspanu imprisoned for? What happened to the allies of Giuliano & Sicilian Mafia after the death of Giuliano?

Don Croce Malo was based on the ruthless Calegero Vizzini. Benjamino Malo was probably created for dramatic reasons.

The fact is, Giuliano was more interested in gaining political refuge in America rather than sneak over there with the Mafias protection. He actually hoped that Sicily would become (at the time) the 49th State of America. After that plan faded he tried to get to America with only limited help. I can't remember the actual American Mafia being involved.

Aspanu actually admited killing Giuliano, was arrested and actually died in prison of poisening.

I truly recommend if you want the full version to purchase the book King of the Mountain by Billy J Chandler.
