I miss you PL, and I'm sorry I wasn't visiting these boards during the time you were ill. But I love you and I will pray for you.
Rest in Peace.

I've been heavily re-drafting a novel recently, one which was originally "For Sarah". But no, I think it's enough that the novel is about her; and if I think of people who have made encouraging reference to "knowing me in the future" should I become famous, I think it's only fitting that, should I get published, the prefixing line reads: "To Plawrence."

How nice Capo!! What a kind gesture that would be. \:\)

I can't believe it's coming up on a year since he's been gone. Just the other day I was thinking of the remarks PLaw made about his "friends on the BB being as much a friend/s and friends he sees regularly" and then I was thought about Geoff's post saying that they left a printout of all of our comments and good wishes with PLaw. It made me teary eyed.
Yet, look what he left us. He's unique and one of a kind personality, that we all grew to love. And, for most of us, in a very very short time.

In the past year I have a few topics where I felt certain that if Paul were here he'd intervene with either his fair and balanced analysis, an intelligent disection of the situation, and/or a down right witty/clever comment. He truly was one of a kind wasn't he? \:\)

A perfect example of the kind of impact that he had on many of us and these boards is that here we are almost a year after his passing, and we're still talking about him. Still thinking about him. Still wondering what he would have said in regards to this discussion or that debate. Almost a year later and we still miss him as much, if not more than we did when he first passed away.

And now one of the members of this board, Capo, has decided to pay tribute to Plaw by mentioning him in the pre-fixing line of a novel that he hopes to get published.

That's the kind of impact, the kind of influence that this man had over us.

Although he may be gone in body, he sure as hell is alive in spirit and in our hearts.

The proof is right here. ;\)

It's a great testament that the BB family really cares about each other.

Mick, that is so great of you to do that.

I visited Plaw in the hospital just about a year ago (I know because it was my daughter's birthday, which is next week). I can't believe that it's been a year. I do miss his presence and his humor and his ability to inject a smile into each and every conversation (online or in person) that we ever had.

October 5th. It was one year ago today that Paul lost his battle with cancer and passed away.

Its hard to believe that an entire year has come and gone already.

The memories of his humor, intelligence and friendship will remain with me forever, but I wish so much that he was still here with us.

10/5 will be an unhappy anniversary for the rest of my life, but Plaw would mock me for that. He'd also mock me for my poor showing in fantasy baseball this year, and he'd most likely be leading in fantasy football. I REALLY miss him, the person, but also the life he added to the fantasy sports threads (and other threads, of course)...

On the phone he'd always call me his "Don"... but he'll always be MY Don... despite his bad driving directions ;\)

I'll always despise the fact that Cingular (now AT&T) used to delete saved voicemail after 14 days. Because if it was today, I'd still be able to hear his voice (I think it's 30 days now)... but luckily I still can, in my head...

We love you, Plaw! I'm sure you're giving them "hell" up there! \:\)

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I'm very saddened that I didn't get to know Plawrence personally the way many of you did. I clearly missed out on quite a person. I used to read his posts and felt like I knew him, but I never interacted with him the way so many of you did on here and in person.

His life makes me look at my own and makes me wonder, how will people see me when I'm gone? I then think, I need to be more like Plaw, or at least more likeable!

I miss reading Plawrence's post's...

I miss him so very much, his wit, his charm, his intelligence. He made my life so much richer for having known him.

Geoff, thank you again for this wonderful place that has brought me so many terrific friends.

To my friends here, friends that I know will be sharing my sadness today, let me at least have learned a lesson from losing my Prince Paul and not neglect the chance to tell you that I love you guys.

My wife died suddenly and I never got the chance to say, "goodbye". Similarly, I didn't get to say, "goodbye" to my father before he died. I was determined not to let that happen with Paul. The last time I saw him in the hospital we both knew that his death was somewhat imminent. As I was leaving, I told him that I loved him. He looked up at me, kissed me goodbye and said, "I love you, too". Those were his last words to me.

I wish I didn't have to hear them for another 30 years or so, but I'm comforted somewhat that I DID hear them. I find myself telling my loved ones that I love them more often now. Its not from any superstition or fear, and I'm comforted from just saying those words (and consider myself lucky that I have friends/family to whom I can say those words).

Hard to believe it's been a year. \:\(

I too can't get the moment of getting that phone call out of my head. I remember the pain, the tears and the dread that came over me. We can say we were "prepared" for the news, but are we ever really?

The memories of our friendship are still as vivid as ever. The tears may have subsided some, but sadness still remains.

I havent been on for a long time but I had a funny feeling to log on today and I'am glad I did. I guess Paul was telling me to log on. Its been a whole year since Paul passed. WOW! I didnt know him the way DC or some of you did but every time I met him he was a sweatheart to me. He was a special person and I must say I miss him a lot. He added a smile to my face everytime I logged on and read what he wrote. A lot of times we would go back and forth at each other argueing about different topics but in the end we always had respect for each others views.

You are truely missed my friend. I just hope that when I pass on from this earth and go to heaven you will be waiting for me at the pearly gates. God Bless You.

I think sometimes we think (well at least I do) that we are all just a little speck/a little insignificant grain of sand in this enormous universe in which we all live. Yet, although it might have a ring of truth to it, it's not really accurate. Look how significant one person on one internet site, not to mention outside of the "web" became endeared and loved by everyone who's life he touched. \:\)

I've thought about Paul a number of times this year and still miss not seeing him around.

Geoff, I think naming the sports section "The House That PLaw Built" is so cool; a true tribute. What a great way to keep his spirit alive here on the BB.

I miss you Paul! \:\(

I recently developed an interest in poker, when a friend from school introduced me to it and taught me how to play. I enjoyed watching 'live games,' and I got into the World Series of Poker shows on TV...then I also got into Full Tilt Poker, an online game that allows you to play with other gamers.

I'd never before given any consideration to poker, but once it hit me like this as a new obsession, I thought of Plaw. I know it would've been such fun to discuss it with him and get his opinions on the game.

Not to mention, I still have trouble understanding the strategy that goes with poker, and I know he would've been able to help on that. \:\)

Hell, I wish *I* asked for his advice, even tho I know how to play... I swear, I just get dealt bad hands all the time, and when I do get a good hand, someone always has a better one ( )

This Thanksgiving I give thanks for having known him to begin with... he's sorely missed!

I've been sort of laid up with some minor foot surgery (sorry, SC!!) and I've been online more than usual. I've been thinking of Paul so much, how sick he was for so long, and how much he depended on the internet. Or maybe it's because of the approaching holidays, and I'm getting nostalgic. Whatever it is, he's been on my mind lately.

Btw, it is now a Christmas Eve tradition to pass around his Godfather version of Twas The Night Before Christmas.

One of his favorite comedies, "A Night at the Opera" is on TCM now. It just started at 6:00.
