I'm gonna shock the world (or at least Miggie ) and admit that I like some country music. Check out this video by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett, and tell me that you don't want to be on an island, somewhere, drinking frozen drinks, with half-naked women.

The scenes at the "tiki bar" were filmed in Jupiter, Florida, about a half hour from my place down there. It's called "The Square Grouper," and I've been there several times.

I see a lot of juvenile obesity in the Bronx, especially in the lower economic areas, and my heart breaks for these kids. And I realize there's a correlation between poverty and obesity among children, but I'm sorry, I think the parents have to be taken to task at some point.

You can eat healthy on a budget, if you care enough to do a little research.

Yeah, obesity is a rising threat, especially among the impoverished.
It seems counterintuitive but a few weeks back there was a NYT piece on obesity and hunger being correlated in some areas of the South Bronx.

I seriously was about to make a post, discussing how great it was to see Paul McCartney do an interview and outdoor performance on Letterman tonight...I even had video clips. That's when I noticed they'd been posted on YouTube a year ago.

I see that Goombah and PB both posted about it, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt to revive an awesome moment like this! How lucky are we to still get to see him play today?

That is so cool. Damn, last time I was in NY I went right by the Ed Sullivan theater. Why couldn't I have been so lucky to see Sir Paul perform? Love Helter Skelter and Get Back (never was so crazy about Back In The USSR but hey that's ok). Very nice. I wish I would have seen it on tv.

Btw anyone who is interested, PBS is going to air McCartney's performance for the Obama's on July 28th. I don't know the time and the date was the original one they stated so I suppose that could have changed. If I hear a change I'll post for those who may want to see it.

This was easily one of my favorite commercial jingles when I'd hear it on the TV. It brings you back to a different time and place. I had been looking for it for awhile, but knowing youtube's ability to never let me down, had a feeling it would show up sooner or later.
