This is an alleged photo of a sea serpant taken by a family at Queensland, Australia. This fascinated me deeply and ive been staring at it since this morning trying to figure out what it really is! Comments please.

Look like its tail is coming from the boat.

Unconventional anchor, I say.

Boat that size could never use an anchor like that. It would sink or dramatically impair its crusing ability.

My guess, it's an Oarfish. They can grow to be 17 meters in length, and the water there looks prime for one. They are rarely seen alive though. (They float to the surface when they die) Could also be a "monster sea snake". They are rumored to be pre-historic and dino-like too, like 'Ness". Who knows.

Are we all choosing to not acknowledge the fact that there's a 95% chance it's fake?

Look at the perspective. That thing is probably right next to the camera, and the boat is off in the distance a bit, giving it the appearance of a big shadow. Halfway up along the "body," a big portion is missing (Which, from what I'm reading is allegedly a wound, according to the original photographer in 1964, but where is the blood? Something that large should have a tremendous quantity of blood, which would be plainly visible in water of that clarity). Plus, that creature looks too big to be in water that shallow (I'm assuming that the photographer was on the shore?).

Another issue I have is the "eye" which can be seen on the "head" of the creature...if that is a "real" creature, it looks like it would be a large (giant?) squid of some sort (which would help to explain the "wound" as well, a bent tentacle, sounds nasty :p ).

I'd have to concur, you've probably hit it right on the head. And from the camera perspective, that would make the "head" look even larger.

I'd jump on it, wrestle it to the seabed, and keep it there 'til it drowned. Then I would swim back up to the surface when it was down to its last three seconds of breath. Kind of like playing on "No Mercy" for the N'64, beating your opponent up outside the ring, then getting back into the ring when the count is on 9.

Only, my plan kind of falls flat when I get to the bottom of the seabed.

That sounds like something from a Crocodile Dundee Movie
