The crazy thing is that people are still flocking to move to Florida, and real estate prices are still strong. Friends of ours in Arizona moved there because they lost two houses to hurricanes in Florida.

My (retired) aunt & uncle live in Florida. They were telling me recently that after 20+ years down there, their area managed to escape any serious hurricane damage until the relentless hits of the 2004-2005 seasons.
Personally, I don't know how ANYONE could risk living in Florida if they weren't born & raised there. Imagine knowingly living under the risk of losing virtually everything year after year after year...I mean it's not like a San Francisco where an earthquake is iminent but you just don't know when it's coming. Hurricane season is an annual event.

From my perspective in the Tampa Bay area this storm was a minor blip on the radar screen. People are so terrified, however that the fear is contagious. If any major city in Fla gets a direct hit from a Category 4 or 5, it will be all over. Thats why I have real estate in N Carilina. If lose everything here Im gone.

this is great. I can't wait to see who the next weather-babe is (or weather-dude). I'm in love with Stephanie Abrams. Man she can withstand a Category 4!
