I personally can't see him in GF but MAYBE Santino cause Pesci seems like a hothead

How about him playing Clemenza's brother!

Actually the part that I could see him play was being one of Clemenza's henchman who did the Bonasera favor for the Don in getting those guys who screwed up Bonasera's daughter. I could definately see Pesci working those guys over.

Don Cardi cool

I would like to see Pesci as Danny Aiello's character who tries to garrot Mikey Pentangelli in GF2.. in any case any tough guy role would suit Pesci im my opinion cool

With Pesci's attitude he seems like he would be more of someone Fredo would hang around with.
I mean, he is a hothead like Santino, so they would probably fight a lot, and he would be too loud and obnoxious for Michael - I think Fredo could appreciate Pesci's "Big Man" attitude ohwell

I think Pesci could have played a part in GFIII is there would have been more emphasis on the street Mafia. In his gangster movie roles he portrays really sleazy characters and, let's face it, that seems to be the face of the Mafia as it has progressed and continues to progress into the 20th and 21st centuries.

AS much as I like Joe Pesci. I don't feel he fits into the first Two Godfather movies. I think the style of the films leaves him out on the sidelines. The era is just all wrong for him.

I guess I am glad he is not in the movies. He is better left in movies like Goodfellows and Casino.

Someone once told me that Joe Pesci was originally supposed to play Joey Zasa, and it makes logical sense.

Then again, its like how Coppola initially tried to have Scorsese direct THE GODFATHER PART 2, with FFC as writer/producer....interesting.

I would agree, adding that III would be the only place, if at all, for Pesci. Perhaps the Don Altobello character, but even that is a reach.

As far as a previous idea of having him play Luca, no way. Joe is physically too small to play the beast of a man that Luca was. I think most of us who have read the novel would have a terribly difficult time imagining the evil deeds Luca Brasi performed by little Joe Pesci. Sure Pesci was a tough guy in Goodfellas & Casino, but Luca Brasi's character was not your average tough guy. He was a one man killing machine who was practically unmatched.

How about Joe Pesci playing the role of Vito the godfather.

Joke aside, I think Joe Pesci could have played the role of Sonny. They both were short tempered. Compare these two scenes Sonny hitting the cameraman trying to take pictures in connie's marriage and Pesci in Casino hitting his man with the phone and slapping him when he goes back to Pesci after being chucked out of casino. Also when sonny fight with connie's husband, same thing pesci would have done.

Of course, if my memory serves, Pesci couldn't do THE GODFATHER PART III....why?

Well GOODFELLAS of course!

Then again, the masterpiece of GOODFELLAS and the wrongly-pissed-on GODFATHER PART III both got whacked at the Oscars by DANCES WITH WOLVES...lol!

Joe P. would have been fabulous as the leader of the Tahoe assassins (the one who gives the order to open the blinds in Michael's room, the one where his children play). The strength of his performance would have forced FFC to give this offscreen character more screen time, which probably explains why he never got the part.

The main character, it's a guy just like me. I uh -- I wouldn't even have to act -- just be myself.
