I heard in the news that Iranian government banned all western music from broadcast on radio and TV.
OK, Afi, if it's correct, what policy do you have then about movies?

J.M. I wouldn't worry about Afsaneh, she'll do just fine in finding Western music as will most Iranians who seek it out. This banning by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will just increase the already thriving black market trade in Western music and Coldplay, Green Day, Franz Ferdinand and 50 Cent will still be played loud in the privacy of Iranian homes and cars. Also, those Iranians who have access to a Satellite dish will continue to receive a healthy diet of Western movies, music, sitcoms and news. In addition, Iran is one of the most websavy nations on the planet. Their very young population will continue to be able to find Western music and other media on the net using such programs as Morpheus, Bit Torrent and the like. So I don't think Afs will have to worry about this too much, but if things get too bad she can always come to Canada.

There were not any western music on Government run TV or radio here in the first place. They are trying to ban the works of Iranian artists who are doing things western style.

Anyhoo Don J is right, those movies you know about JM, and whatever music I want to listen to, I still can get through black market as usual. I'm just worried if they actually come house to house and knock down the satellite dishes as they used to do. As for the Iranian TV, I practically live without it. It is boring and pure BS most of the time anyway.
