I think that was a reasonable statement from the cardinal. It would be very tough for a man in his position to openly embrace theories of science like evolution that directly contradict the idea of origins as per his religion. Also his statement that science should listen to religion makes sense. Religion is as old as man himself. It is not so successful without a reason. Eventhough I am totally non-religious, I beleive religion keeps a lot of people in stable condition and probably puts bounds on what kind of extreme actions they can take. Although it may retard the pace of science, scientists bound by religion are less likely to break some common sense rules. What happened to me - why am I siding religion today ?
