The kind of cat that vito is holding in the Godfather part 1 is a Havana brown cat(which ironically isn't always brown like in the movie.) These cats weren't developed until the 1950s. The opening scene takes place before the cat was even in existance

The Havana Brown cat was developed in the 1950s by crossing a British Seal Point Siamese with another black shorthaired cat of Siamese descent. These cats were formerly known as Chestnut Brown Foreigns. Once American breeders started developing and raising these cats the British and United States varieties began to take on different but similar characteristics.

Well,correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt it possible with all the cats around that 2 of those alien simese cats you mentioned were able to meet and have kittens well before thier kitens became a reconized breed?

The cat doesn't look like any particular kind of cat- infact she looks like my domestic gray short-haired cat Sassy. Everyone we watch it we say, looks Sassy's a movie star!

Also there is a scene with an American flag with mnore stars than it should have had back then.

I think it's during the Vegas scene when Michael enters Moe Greene's hotel. You catch a glimpse of two guys with shaggy beards and shades walking if you look in the mirrored glass windows. I only caught it because on the DVD, FFC mentions it in his commentary.

Yes i agree with that punch that SOnny tottaly missed Carlo wit. It was like a foot away from his face, and i still heard the person that played Carlo suffered bruised or broken ribs.

Actually, from what I understood, the cat was a stray that Brando was playing with around the lot...being a method actor he decided that it would be a good juxtaposition to have the Don carressing a cat tenderly while talking about murder.

The bottle is visible on the table at the Don's meeting. I am assuming that the meeting happened ca. 1947-48 for various reasons that I've posted in other threads. If you accept that timeline, it'd be too early for Bolla. The first Bolla wines were imported to America in tiny quantities (~200 cases) in 1947. The label shown on the bottle on the table was introduced in the '60's.
BTW: Bolla became the most popular import wine in the US in 1969. Now it's Australia's Yellow Tail.

IN GF III there's a portrait of Vito over Michael's desk, and in it he is holding a yellow cat. Notice you can tell it is Vito but they avoid using Brando's likeness.

And what's this about Mr. Paul Olivant? I missed that altogether. Maybe she was referring to Kay as a "fish wife."

I think the cat makes the Don seem too much like a Bond villain - Odd-feld or Blo- or whatever....

If you listen to the commentary track on one of the editions FFC is very proud of the cat - and the fact that Brando could tickle it whilst doing his Don routine. Sort of thespian multi-tasking.
Could Brando be the don and chew gum at the same time? We will never know...

One of the nice things about reading posts that are 4 years old, you see things you might have missed in the past, but I digress. Having been a big consumer of Bolla Valpolicella in the 70's, when I graduated from Sangria and Mateuse, I immediately recognized the bottle of Bolla Valpolicella at the table, and just assumed it was accurate, as FFC is a wine expert, and produces some really great wines. Upon doing further research using Bolla's website, it seems as though the bottle might be only half incorrect, as Bolla made their first shipment to the US in 1947, with 200 cases of Bardolino. It might not be out of the realm of possibility that by the time of the meeting, they might have sent over Valpolicellas. I think it might be incorrect due to the label itself. It doesn't appear to be the type of label used on in the 50's.
