If you had to take any GF character and make them President of the US (or your own country), whom would you select?

I got to thinking about this after reflecting on the Don's conversation with Michael when Vito said he wished that Michael could have been a senator or a governor.

If I had to pick someone, it would not be Michael. He might be a good TV president, but I'd be afraid he would drop nuclear weapons on our enemies and blow the world up.

What about Vito? I think he could be good, but he's, well, too crooked.

Sonny? No way. Fredo? Please.

So I vote for Tom Hagen. He may lack the "vision thing" to some degree but I think he has the best overall mind and temperament and he's not as hot-headed as a lot of the other characters. I think he would surround himself with good advisors. He would not be a bold decisive leader but he would be a competent concensus builder and could steer the ship.

Vito could've made a good president if he hadn't met Clemenza and lost his absolute innocence..


I probably agree with you about Tom. I doubt that Tom's character would ever want to become president or any type of leader with that much authority, because he probably knows that men with power do become corrupted.. but Tom would still get my main vote.

Old Michael in Part III could've also done a decent job.. not too ambitious but still smart and wise.

My vote would go to Vito because he was the oldest & wisest. I think Michael & Tom would have made great politicians, but I would want Vito running my country!

Don Tommassino and Vito Corleone were both cunning in business and good with people. It'd be a close call between the two. Tommassino would probably be less likely to corrupt the office.

I'd have to say Senator Pat Geary of the State of Nevada.

I would vote for VITO - he's a smart businessman and has a special way with politicians and judges.
He would run the country from his armchair, I think he would be a "behind the scene's" president - someone who doesn't make speeches unless when necessary. Besides he's a "real man"

I would want Michael as president. Someone who wouldn't be afraid to take on all enemies, and having the guts to make the tough decisions, when it came to the military.
