More broadcast and print journalists have been killed during the Iraq war than during the entire 20 years of the Vietnam War, according to the Paris-based Reporters Without Borders. The latest casualty, it said, was a soundman for Reuters TV News, who was shot by U.S. soldiers in Baghdad on Sunday, bringing to 66 the number of journalists and their assistants who have been killed since 2003. (A Reuters cameraman accompanying the soundman was wounded in the incident.) Sixty-three journalists were killed in Vietnam between 1955 and 1975.

Fucking War...Good thing Hunter S. Thompson aint alive or he'd be mad as hell. He was almost killed in Vietnam as a reporter.

And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

No war is good war, and when these reporters are over there trying to bring us coverage (biased or un-biased), it's sad.

Hey, how's it going?

If I'm not mistaken, a majority of the journalists who were imbedded in Vietnam were actually trained militry people. The journalists covering this war are not trained military people. That may have something to do with why there are more deaths of journalists in this war than in Nam. But eitherway, it's really sad. A shame.

This is agod-damn travesty. You'd figure that four decades later that we'd be able to protect our reporters in a beter fashion.

No doubt, that's the risk they take when giving us a glimpse at the hell that is war, but I think we can all agree that it's a sadening and sickening occasion when more people are killed in a two year period in Iraq that in a two decade period in Vietnam.

I guess this is kind've random, but I guess I'll post it anyways. After giving it much thought, I have pretty much decided that instead of majoring in history to become a teacher, I would like to pursue a major in communications and become a newscaster, preferably one that works the stories, such as wars, hurricanes, etc.

Yea I remember how bad I felt for that NBC reporter's family. I forgot his name but he rode the tanks when the war first started.

This is sad and I'm truly NOT trying to treat this casually, but we also have way MORE reporters than during Vietnam. How many more news outlets are there than there were 40 years ago?
