WALLKILL, N.Y. -- The family of a disabled 7-year-old boy wants an apology from a movie theater after the manager threw him out for laughing too loudly.

The parents of Anthony Pratti say it happened Sunday in Wallkill, New York, when they took their son to see "March of the Penquins."

The boy has cerebral palsy and autism. The family says he was enjoying the movie from his wheelchair when a theater worker said he was laughing too loudly, and would have to leave.

Gina Pratti said they would try to have their son laugh more quietly, but the manager wanted him to leave.

She says she was dumbfounded when the manager told them the entire family didn't have to go, just the boy in the wheelchair.

The manager refunded everyone's money.

A representative of Loews Cineplex told a Middletown newspaper they are looking into the matter.

Thoughts?

OMG That is BS. I've been in theater's and I would hear cell phones ringing and nothing was done. But they are going to make an example out of a 7 year old boy who was laughing a little loud.

My heart broke for that family. I thought it was awful, and very sad. I'm not sure how I feel about the manager's actions. I wasn't there. I don't know how disruptful he was being. However, and I know this is going to sound very, very cold, it costs me $40 to get into the movies, not to mention popcorn, soda, etc. How loud was this boy? Were other customers complaining? Does the manager owe more to this boy because he's in a wheelchair than he does to his other customers? I guess you would have to have been there to know the answer.

Let's throw that kid out, but the teenagers who go in and "Fake laugh" so that you can't pay attention to what's going on, cell phones as you said people yelling across the theatre, no leave them alone

SB I heard an interview with the mother a few days ago, the theatre was supposed to help him come to terms with being in a crowd. even the people around them said he might have been laughing louder but it was at the same time as everyone else so it wasn't bothering others. She also gets seats right next to the door so if he does start "Acting up" for lack of a better term they can wheel him out to the hallway fast and not bother others.

I see what you are saying though SB and I agree with you to a point but I think they could have handled it in a better way.

The only reason that the manager could have had for throwing them out would be if numerous other patrons were complaining. If that wasn't the case, then the manager is just a jackass.

As with most things that the media publicise, you can't judge the situation. If the kid hadn't had cerebral paulsy or autism, it wouldn't have made news. Perhaps he was laughing at a particularly sad part in the film, meriting serious morose in the other viewers, and thus justifying being kicked out. Perhaps he wasn't; perhaps it was a genuinely funny part of the film, and the manager has it in for disabled kids. Who knows?

exactly. The kid was probably doing something wrong such as laughing louder then other people.

Isn't raggingbull from Walkill?

He's away at college, though, or I would have thought he could have been one of the complainers.

Here's a better idea.

A Don Vercetti is put in every theater to dropkick people who leave their cellphones on and chat in the middle of it.

Of course during Broken Flowers last week, Mr. Shit-heal needed to hold a business meeting for ten minutes.
