What the heck happened to Connie's kids in GFIII?
In GFII we hear Michael tell her that her son Victor was in trouble with then law. But in GFIII I do not recall any reference being made about her children.

Good question

SInce COnnie spent no time with er kids when they were in their adolescence, they probably spent the rest of their lives away from her

Right! what gives with that. In II, she was walking on the grounds with her two boys at mama's funeral. It does seem that she if fostering her granddaughter, but who's the father? It's not an untrue statement that she seems to care for her Micheal's children that her own. ohwell

Do you mean the little girl in Part III? That girl is in a few scenes (Connie is even holding her in the "family picture"), and I concluded that she was either Victor's or Michael Franicis' child. Same with the little boy in the picture.

It seems to me that GFIII would have made more sense if the young, up and coming Don would have been one of Connie's boys instead of creating the bastard character Vincent Mancini, who is never acknowledged in Puzzo's novel. Michael Francis in the role of Vincent would have provided a much deeper relationship with Michael, since Michael is his Godfather.

Yeah, or using either of Sonny's already-existing sons, Santino Jr. or Frank, would have made more sense too.

I never have understood the point of concocting Vincent out of nowhere, which also contradicted some chapters of the GF novel, which dealt with what Lucy Mancini did following Sonny's death.

Again, I would speculate that Connie would have dropped "Rizzi" from the two boys' names - she was aware of the way Carlo betrayed both her father and Sonny, and aware that Carlo's betrayal had led directly to Sonny's murder. And, of course, Carlo continually beat the crap out of Connie and cheated on her.

After the first bitter reaction after Michael had Carlo rubbed out, Connie would have gotten over it real quick and realized she was way better off with Carlo dead, and she wouldn't want the boys carrying on his disgraced name. She'd have changed the boys' names to Victor Corleone and Michael Francis Corleone.

I think if Michael Francis or Victor were the "Vincent part", it would've been akward with Connie so involved in everything. I can't imagine a mother planning hits with her son. ohwell

Was "Francis" Michael's middle name also? The sheets in Part II have "MFC" embroidered in.

I think by GF III Connie would have been just fine planning hits with her son. If she'd had a daughter, she'd probably send her out to rub somebody out, too!!

eek wink

I totally agree with EnzoBaker. She could easily have been planning hits with one of her sons just as she had with Vincent. Consider it like a queen grooming a son (a prince) for the King's throne. In fact, it could be argued that Connie treated Vincent like a son. Perhaps there was a sense of guilt because Carlo contributed to the death of Sonny, thus leaving Vincent without a father.

I would have prefer that FFC dropped the opera (it was a very bad idea) and Anthony (need to be recasted) is tormented of becoming the Don.
