This is just too cute to pass up. I know, yet another news story. However, this couple just celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary. Can you believe it? She says the secret is to not go to bed mad and to remember to use the word "sorry". He however says the secret is simply the words "yes dear!"

80 years of marriage is unbelievable! I'll be happy if I LIVE to be 80.

My parents made it to 63 years. I guess a couple has to:

1. Love each other
2. Be healthy enough to live to an old age

Anyone know what the world record is?

Finally a positive news story. Congrats to them, I thought the answer would be "drink red wine every day" like the oldest man on earth.

My grandfather's aunt was married for even longer, something to the effect of 85 years.

When I read about these stories, I often wonder how amazing living that long would be, seeing all that history and advance. My great grandma died at 104 last year, she lived through the whole 20th century, including the abuse from the Nazis when she lived in Italy.

And Guiness is 100% sure? It's probably the longest known marriage.

Gee, maybe because marriage isn't about money to some people. Maybe to some people, its sacred. Maybe to some people, their marriage isn't anyone else's business.

In any case, this is wonderful news! I'll be happy if I live to be 80 years old, much less married for that long!

When you're that old you don't have the energy to start arguments and especially move out. No wonder they're still together.

I actually put it down to a good and vibrant sex life. I bet they're still going.

I thought this was a Happy Birthday thread for Mobbing4Money. Perhaps not.

That's incredible. Absolutely amazing. Like SC, I'd be happy if I lived (in good health) 'til I was 80.

You kidding? One day last week he took "it" out of his pants to initiate sex and she threatened to sue for assault with a dead weapon.

Seriously, I find it amazing that not only are these people still alive but from a historical point of view what they might have been experiencing when they first married. For instance:

1. The week before they married the Scopes trial started (the basis for the movie "Inherit the Wind").

2. A few days after the wedding Yankees first baseman, Wally Pipp, asked to sit out a game because of a headache, allowing Lou Gehrig to become the regular first baseman.

3. F. Scott Fitzgerald just published "The Great Gatsby" and Adolf Hitler just had "Mein Kampf" released.

Amazing stuff!

Well, if he's 105, he was born in 1900. Who was President in 1900, and think of how many Presidents they've lived thru.

I just think it's wonderful. Nothing lasts 80 years these days, let alone a relationship. They seem healthy and happy and I think it's great!!

I saw it. The guy had that same vacant look in his eye as Deep Throat. I notice she did all the talking and the only thing he said was "yes dear." Thats how he has made it this long.

To get a little off topic (a lot off topic, actually), I'm watching this soon. We're learning about the Monkey Trial for History exams at the moment. In fact, the exam is on Wednesday.

Don V. then you should go and report this to Guiness. Why not, it would get your family in the record books.

And Don Corleone, how would making a little money make your marrige not sacred?
