any fan of the "Cheech and Chong" movies? I just watched Up In Smoke (1978) this afternoon and, well, it's my favorite comedy movie ever. anyone agree?

I have to be in the mood for them... I can't just randomly watch and appreciate them anytime.

But I do love Tommy Chong in "That 70's Show" as Leo, Hyde's boss at the photo hut. Hilarious!!

His best line is in that one episode when they're playing Battleship at work and Leo's winning, and he gives Hyde this speech about military strategy... then he pauses and goes, "Hey you know what man? I think I may have been in the Navy."

Cheech: Hey, meing! What is this shit?
Chong: Man. That's 75% maui wowie and 25% labrador.
Cheech: What's labrador?
Chong: Dogshit, man! My dog ate my stash and I had to follow him around for 3 days. That total blew him mind.

I've only seen "Up in Smoke" but it's a cult classic.

Umm, I thought about doing a future CULT FILM REVIEW on UP IN SMOKE(1978), but oh well. C&C did some funny films before their act literally went up in smoke(though "Man", their last movie was just terrible )...though there was news that the duo was working on a new film before Mr. Chong was busted for illegal posseision....

Though before they split, they did appear to good use in Martin Scorsese's underrated AFTER HOURS.

I didn't see "Up In Smoke", but I do remember C & C's first couple albums. One of them had a zig zag paper the size of the album inside. In particular, I like the "Jesus trying to cross the border"(don't remember the title) and of course the famous "Dave! "Open the Door!" "Who's there?" "It's Dave. I got the stuff open the door." "Dave's not here". ha ha ha ha Well, maybe someone will know what I'm talking about. :p

ltz, I like when they are playing LIFE....Hyde says to Leo when I was growing up I didn't have a father, Leo says to Hyde I never had a son......then Leo turns to Hyde and says "Will you be my daddy?"

Tommy Chong appearance in "That 70's Show" is really priceless. I remembet that even before I got into the Cheech & Chong movies I always used that "man" from Chong. in the end of every sentence he uses that word in the funniest way posible, just like that, 'maan'..

to produce some laughs, here is my favorite piece of dialogue from "Up In Smoke":

Pedro: [Worried] Hey, man; what was that shit you gave me?
Man Stoner: Man, that was the most acid I ever saw anyone take at one time, man.
Pedro: [panicing] Acid! Man, I don't mess with that shit, man. A guy in my neighborhood took some once, his head swelled up and everything, man!
Man Stoner: [laughing] Ho, ho, ho; man, I hope you're not planning on doing anything for the next couple of months.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Those albums are classics. I remember a bit where they sneak into a drive in movie with guys hidden in the truck, then they lose the keys.

DM, I love the dad thing when they're playing LIFE too... and when Hyde goes, "I think I better get back to work, man." And Leo goes, "If you get back to work man, you're fired."

Me, bein' the old man that I am (44 on Sunday), I was listening to their albums looong before they became bonified stars, and I loved 'em way back then ("Dave's not here!"). But of their movies, I must say that only Up In Smoke was the purest Cheech & Chong. I still love it today, even though my hemp-smokin' dayze are long gone!

I've never found them funny... Not that I don't find drug jokes funny. I love drug jokes, I just find Cheech and Chong to be a juvenille version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (even though Fear and Loathing came after), which was absolutely hilarious.

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

I was never an avid fan either...but did happen to catch this bit on the radio years ago and thought it was one of the most hilarious things I ever heard in my whole life.

Still is....
