Out of all of his films, Eternal Sunshine For the Spotless Mind is the best by far. But since I cannot vote for that I said Ace Venture-Pet Detective. I have yet to see The Truman Show.

Jim Carrey has long been a favorite of mine, and its nice now that he's getting some recognition for his acting. ESotSM is his best, not only becuase of his work, but the work of everyone connected to that film. One of 2004's best. The Truman Show and Man on The Moon are also excelent films.

I agree. I saw Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless mind two days ago, and I couldn't believe the performance Jim Carrey was able to pull off. I always thought of him as an actor who was only good at making faces, but he proved me wrong. Truman Show was excellent too, and I thought few (or no) movies had ever explored that theme.

I have never been a Jim Carrey fan. His antics are annoying to me. I prefer comedians that say funny things (Rodney Dangerfield) rather than ones that do funny things (Jim Carrey).

My favorite Jim Carrey movie is Dumber and Dumber.

Since I haven't watched "Eternal Sunshine For the Spotless Mind" yet, my fav Jim Carrey's movie is "The Majestic" so far, which was not in the poll list (I wonder why? It is a good movie and Jim is great!)....

Jim Carey is...

1. talentless
2. spinless
3. and a sell out

I met him at some signing at a nearby wall when I was 10-12 he totally blew me, my brother and my friend off.

asshole

Yeah, because he blew you off, he automatically becomes talentless and a sell out.

Care to elaborate?

Jim Carrey would have to be my favorite actor, since my childhood, growing up on the two Ace Ventura films. I personally do not see how you can call him talentless, he is one of the most talented actors in the movies today, and may be the funniest. I voted for Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, although The Truman Show was very good, and away from his comedy side. I have yet to see ESotSM, but I hope to soon.

He's talentless as well. All of the characters he plays, are the exact same. Literally, all eccentric with no character background [ im not speaking 100% but at least 95%]. It doesnt take someone with talent to make funny expressions.

It's his comedic energy that makes his films entertaining, just like Robin Williams. And both have another thing in common; both proved they could act against their typecasting. Carrey proved this in Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind and Williams in Insomnia and One Hour Photo.

Sure, Carrey has not done many films against his type, although The Majestic also sounds like it's against his type. What it seems like to me is that you were a fan who got pissed at that incident, so you washed your hands of him.

Enternal Sunshine was magnificent! It fed my needs for obscure and horribley out of place, yet satisfyingly serious and dramatic in all its strangness.

As far as his more comedic, "trade-mark", material goes, I always loved Dumb and Dumber. There is always some line or sub-context joke that you pick up on with each increasing viewing.

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

STM, I'm confused. How did he blow you off? If it was at a signing, wouldn't there just be a line? Did he just say "I'm not signing yours' when you got up there," or what?

I am probably way out there on this one, and while I love all of his work, especially Dumb and Dumber, I think his best is the Cable Guy, which most people think was a flop. I think it is a very very dark movie, and I wish he ended up dead at the ending.

I disliked Carrey completely till I saw The Truman Show (which I voted for). I liked me myself and Irene (which has no votes yet!) I want to see the Cable Guy, I've heard good stuff about that. I admit now he is a far better actor than I had him pegged for

we were waiting in the line for about an hour and then when we got to the front there were still a large amount of fans behind us and here are three little kids who obviously look up to him and he decides to leave as soon as were at the front.

very scarring

and have you heard stuff about what he does on movie sets. He attacked Jerry Lawler on the set of "Man on the Moon" and it was reported that he paid little to no attention to the children on "a series of unfortuante events"

Well, if he gave you guys your autographs, what about the next people, if he left when they got there, they'd be pissed too. Plus, why were you in line for his autograph if he is not talented. I just believe he is very talented, whether a good person or not.
