What ever happened to Willie Cicci? Is he in the witness protection program, or was he eventually forced into suicide by Tom and the boys after Frankie did himself in? I remember he testified...and then that was it, you never hear about him again. Even though he couldn't pin anything on Mike, certainly there should have been a penalty for betraying his Don.

Any suggestions/comments?

Sure...nobody knows what happened to Willie Cicci, because it is not depicted in GFII.

However, one can assume he met a fate somewhat similar to Frankie's since he did testify against the Family.

Someone on this board once mentioned some 'deleted scene' they saw where Neri beats Willie & then kills him...but since that never even ended up in The Saga, I have my doubts as to whether that ever existed.

Well really the family didn't need to kill off Cicci after Frankie commited suicide, remember, the important thing was there was to be no one able to back up Cicci's testimony at the hearings. orange

VL,

Considering what he decided for Carlo, Tessio, Frankie, Roth, and Fredo...Michael Corleone doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would allow Willie Cicci to walk off into the sunset.

Whether his testimony could be backed up or not.

Remember what he says to Tom...
"I don't feel I need to wipe everybody out - just my enemies."

Excellent point, and I do realise my own lacked credibility. Still, makes you wonder 'how' they got round to killing off Cicci. orange

Funny, I never wondered about Cicci's fate at all... don't worry myself over 'small potatoes'.

I'm with VL on this one. Yes, Cicci broke omerta, but he did so following the example of his own boss. And he did Michael no direct harm. He answered the key question, "Did you ever get a direct order from Michael Corleone? Or was there always a buffer?", he said, "No, I never talked to him." So Michael had reason to give him a pass.
However, there was no Witness Protection Program when that scene was set (ca. 1959-60). Cicci might have gone into "protective custody" in a prison. Or they might have let him walk in return for his testimony. In either case, he'd have been fair game.

Come on people, think, don't you remember? He served 3 years, got out, change his name to Gazza, relocated to Philadelphia where he became a small time bookmaker/loanshark. He did a lot of "business" with the fight game and employed a couple of fighters as enforcers, the most famous being a club fighter named Rocky Balboa.

You stole my line grin grin Do you think he let Rocky use his Cadillac to take Adrian to the Zoo?

By the way there is a plaque on the sidewalk at Pat's Steaks in South Philly, where Gazza had a cheesesteak with Rocky.... cool

The whole point of setting up buffers is to take out a layer if need be, and since Frankie killed himself, the nesecary buffer was gone. Anyway, if Cicci had the time he would of ran.

I asked this question awhile back and it seems he was simply elliminated. I'm sure he went to jail for being a buttonman, but I'm just as sure he got whacked.By who, do we really need to know? The problem was taken care of. wink

He was supposed to be in Part III, but the actor Joe Spinell died before production began.

are you sure of that?? in what capacity was he going to be in the film

oh and he was probably given immunity from prosecution for coming forward and put on the witness protection programme (if they had it back then)
