Today is April 20, 4th month, 20'th day.

Any reason to celebrate is fine by me.

well let me be specific 420 mens to smoke pot. In school at 4:20 pm you would meet up with your friends and smoke a joint. Now it has become a holiday praticly. So in April being the 4 month and on the 20 day every one is suposed to smoke up. People were even talking about it on the radio this mouring.

Coincidentally this was also the day chosen to celebrate " Hash Wednesday ," the great exercise in civil disobedience for marijuana laws, at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Always observed on the third Wednesday in April, it will occasionally fall on 4/20 to the delight of those who appreciate such irony. This event hasn't aged well at all, and the website summary of activities is almost a parody of itself.

Started in the 1970's, most attendees today really do look like they're 25 years too late to the party.

Well i mean your friends from school or were ever. it really did not matter. we blazed in around and behind school. 4:20 was the time to meet. and on the day like today it went on all day.

My whole school seems to be celebrating.

Just about every one in my school who smokes honored this holiday today. I actually thought about it, but decided against it, because I have a guitar lesson in a little bit. I wanted to be in the right state of mind.

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention this today. I remember it being a big deal in high school. There were some people who would wear green on 4/20 instead of St. Patrick's Day. :p

I've also noticed (living by the beach) that every year, the beach gets a lot more crowded on this day by high schoolers and college kids than any other non-vacation day. I guess it's one of the most common ditch days ever. Good thing it's a gorgeous, sunny day.

Me? I've got a paper to write and a Laker game to watch later.

I don't either... I swear if I had another person at school wish me a happy 420, I'd have killed someone.

Most people didn't even come to school.. or most came and then tried to be cool and skip.. only they got caught.

I don't smoke, either, tobacco or illegal drugs. It's stupid, and unattractive. There isn't a single person on this board, or anywhere, that can give a good reason to smoke anything (besides those who use pot for medical reasons). Besides that, there's no reason to smoke anything. It's just stupid.

I know, it's pathetic seeing dozens of these posers in school. A bunch of pricks with single digit IQ's twiddling their lighters to look cool.

My sentiments exactly.. I don't do anything.. (no drinking, smoking, or drugs).. I just don't see the point.. if you drink you get fat (you should see my cousin), if you smoke you get cancer, if you do drugs.. well, you lose my respect.

Regular smoking of cigerettes is pointless. It has no positive effect at all. The only reason smokers find it calming is because it's feeding an addiction. If you're addicted to meatballs, you'd find them calming.

But smoking a bit of weed is no big deal if done recreationally. What's wrong with a few mates getting together once a week and getting lifted? I've seriously lost more braincells watching realty TV.

And I'm a non smoker too.

I can't understand why people in today's society have become so judgmental and self righteous. DC, you don't smoke, right? That's fine. That's great, neither do I, but you have absolutely no right to look down on people who do.
You say it's pointless to smoke. Maybe so, but what is the point in calling it stupid? Do you think that you're better and stronger than those that smoke?
Well let me tell you something: We are all weak. We all have something we do or take that helps relieve the pain of everyday life. And what is it that smokers do to you personally? How do they hurt you? Did someone close to you die from a smoke related illness? If so, does that give you the right to be a crusader against smoking?

People have the right to smoke, just like you have the right to critize them. Smoking may be pointless, but so is your critism.
