Apart from Scarface and Godfather what Pacino movie would you recommend. Please don't put in Simone, it was total disappointment.

Dog Day Afternoon, Heat (de Niro as well) and Donnie Brasco are the ones I think of at the moment.

Dog Day Afternoon, Heat, and The Insider are all masterworks. I rate them ****

Here are all the other films aside Godfathers and Scarface that I've seen. They are all worth watching if you like Pacino, but the italic ones are the good or great ones.

Serpico - ***1/2
...And Justice for All - ***1/2
Sea of Love - **1/2
Glengarry Glen Ross - ***1/2
Scent of a Woman - ***1/2
Carlito's Way - *** (worst of the good ones)
Donnie Brasco - ***1/2
The Devil's Advocate - ***
Any Given Sunday - ***1/2
Insomnia - ***1/2
S1m0ne - **
The Recruit - **1/2
Angels in America - ***

Insider because of Pacino? I think Crowe overshadowed Pacino in that movie

How about Pacino's first movie? Panic In Needle Park. While it is NOT a great movie, his acting is just fantastic. Oh and Geoff, you forgot one that you and I both like. WE probably are the only ones who've ever seen it : Two Bits!

In my humble opinion, Dog Day Afternoon is a MUST for any Pacino fan, along with Scent of A Woman

Thank You for recommending so far.

Has anyone seen "The Merchant of Venice" where pacino plays Shylock? Is it any good?

He's asking about Pacino films, so I said The Insider, which is a masterpiece mostly because of Michael Mann.

You forgot about these:

Scarecrow (One of the best Pacino performances ever IMO)

Dick Tracy (What a superb performance, Pacino stole the show, great movie IMO, really underrated)

Frankie & Johnny (Really great love story, Pacino and Pfeiffer do a great job, I watched this one about 10 times with more to come)...

City Hall (Not the greatest pacino movie but worth watching nonetheless)

Except for Simone (which wasnt THAT bad) and Bobby Deerfield (good performance but the movie was lacking something) I LOVE all of his movies. I agree with Don Cardi, Two Bits is such a great movie, and my mother asked me then, "does this Pacino you are talking about have more great movies like this one?" lol...
His performances were always great, I have to watch 5 movies though (cruising, author author, local stigmatic, chinese coffee and looking for richard)...

I enjoyed Frankie and Johnny. Nathan lane is great in that movie! Cruising was another good one, but for some reason it always slips my mind when Pacino movie come up in conversation. I remember when they were filming that movie, a lot of controversy over it and many demonstrations went on.

I think The Insider is a very underrated Pacino/Crowe movie. While Crowe is the focus, Al has a lot of screen time. I would also recommend Serpico & Heat. I thought The Recruit was a waste of time.
