I've been watching this countdown on the Bravo channel (69 for me), and it's really fun to remember all my favorite scary movies that I've watched, as well as learn about new ones that might be the next ones to rent. It's just ending up as I type this, but I checked Bravo's web site, and it's going to air several times more; check out the schedule for it if you'd like to catch it the next time it's on! Just be careful not to click on the titles if you want it to be a surprise, because they give away the list. The commentary on the movies sometimes gives away parts, but there's not too much of a spoiler for any of them. The people who give this commentary are just wonderful; they either provide serious information and background on the show (Stephen King, Wes Craven, Robert Englund, etc. are on there), or they give their opinions and describe how they actually felt watching it, often making funny jokes. I think I actually saw part of this countdown a while back, but I didn't see this much of it. I hope I didn't already make a topic on it back then! Anyway, for all the scary movie buffs, I'm sure y'all will enjoy the next airings.

Hey Gina! I just got through watching this a few minutes ago. Of course ever since I got satallite last week, I've watched everything (I haven't had anything but local channels since 2002 )I thought it was interesting. My mother and I discussed pretty much every movie we'd seen, and wrote down every other one we hadn't to check out. I love shows like that!

Hey Patches! I'm glad you got to see it, too! I felt bad starting a thread on it when it was already over, but I was excited that it was going to be re-broadcast. I'm watching Nightmare on Elm Street now. I think The Omen is on afterwards, but I've got to wake up early, so I doubt I'll get to see much of it, if any. I agree; I absolutely love countdowns! My mom also was watching it with me, and we always enjoy those kind of things. There were these two guys doing commentary that just kept cracking us up; they were imitating the Halloween theme at one point, and one's doing the "Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo" part, and the other's just making these shrill backup noises. They kept flashing back to them, and it was just hilarious.

The single scariest scene I ever saw in a movie was in "Wait Until Dark" (with Audrey Hepburn). I won't spoil it with details for those who've never seen it, but

But for me, The Exorcist just scares the heck out of me! I've been a fan of scary movies, monster movies and horror movies ever since I was a kid, and never had any fear from watching these movies. But for some damn reason, I just cannot watch the Exorcist!

Ever see a movie called " Black Sabbath" which consisted of three short stories, with one of the featuring Boris Karloff as a Vampire. Very eerie setting and tone. The Karloff story is one of my favorites.

I'm with you DC. The Exorcist is on the top of my list of scary movies. Even still, knowing everything that will happen, it's still very chilling and sooooo creepy to say the least. I do find however, I still watch it when it's on from time to time. Don't know why, but I do.

I also thought Amityville Horror was pretty creepy also. I like what I call "fun" scary movies too, like American Werewolf In London, Lost Boys; Poltergeist; and the first Halloween (although I can't get too scared of a guy in a mask, the music and story are good) and Elm Street series (well maybe the first one or two).

I did like Wait Until Dark. I consider that more of a thriller than a scary movie, but I know exactly what scene SC is referring to and remember being in the theater and jumping out of my skin!!

"Wait Until Dark" is a thriller and not a "scary" film but this topic (and the show on Bravo) refers to specific SCENES rather than the film as a whole. I was with a date when we first saw that movie, and I can STILL feel the girl's fingernails in my arm as we watched that scene.... and that was 36 years ago!

Another one (scene) that made me jump outta my seat was from "Jaws" when Richard Dreyfuss was scuba diving investigating a sunken boat. Remember the hole in the bottom of the boat??

Watch "The Conversation," in the hotel scene, lets just say that Hackman sees something shocking and a blast of eerie music makes it creepy to watch.

Did she stick her fingernails in your arm because of the scene up on the screen? Or because of the scene that you tried to play out in the balcony were you two were sitting?

Was it the Oceana Theater by any chance? Or the one on Sheepshead Bay Road?

This was one fine lady!! It was our first date and I wasn't gonna try anything. We were holding hands, and when that scene REALLY surprised everyone in the theater she grabbed my arm and dug her nails in. I wanted to cry because of the pain!

It was the theater on Avenue U and Coney Island Avenue. I can't remember the name of it.

I didn't check the list but the murder scene in Dario Argento's "Suspiria" deserves mention.

The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time! I cannot watch that movie by myself.

That was on there DV-I think it was that scene anyway. I put that movie on the list of ones to check out, because I believe you said something about it around Halloween if I'm not mistaking
. Thats how I recognized it.

Few films--The Exorcist included--can conjure up the macabre feeling in the final moments of Don't Look Now (1973).

My mom told me just last night after we watched this about how The Exorcist was the one scary movie that just really frightened my dad. They went to the theaters to see it, and he was so upset afterwards; he ended up asking for a drink! I watched this movie when I was quite young, and I was scared, yet I was always so proud of the fact that I had seen it.

I'm trying to remember if Wait until Dark is the particular one I'm thinking of from the countdown...

The number one scariest movie moment for me was the opening D-day scene on Saving Private Ryan. Watching it thinking that could have been me, or could be me in the future. Totally terrifying.
