Couldnt they have gotten a hotter actress to play Lucy Mancini?

I mean, i know she was supposed to be kind of a big girl cuz her pipes were huge and she was supposed to be voluptous in the old italian way.

I been reading the book and there is a lot in there about lucy mancini and i just cant get turned on reading about her in all the sexy parts because i keep seeing the Lucy from GF1.

She doesnt have to be strikingly beautiful but she should be farely decent, like in a connie sort of way. I dont see how Sonny could risk his marriage for a girl like that when he could have any girl he wanted. I mean i wouldnt fuck her with a stolen dick!

I'm not gonna touch the getting turned on while reading the book part with a ten foot pole.. but Lucy is supposed to be rather "plain", I guess, because it's the old style. She may not be strikingly beautiful, but she'd be a good wife and mother, which is what counts. Looks ain't everything, ya know.

You also have to keep in mind that the first time we see her she is in this Gosh awful pepto bismal pink dress and huge hat. That's a tough outfit to look sexy in.

I really don't see Sonny's reasoning in cheating on Sandra, period. She was hot.

In the movie, they were kind of trying to make her look like a slut. Which why such a powerful man like Sonny would be cheating with a slut, I don't know, but I think they wanted her to not look so good. They didn't want her to be ugly, but not neccesarily beautiful.
Which I just thought of something...why was she in the wedding party? I mean Sonny was cheating on his wife with his sister's friend??? That seems really weird. Who knows, maybe it was his cousin (forshadowing his son and Marie). I'm joking, I'm joking, don't worry.


P.S.-I doubt Puzo was aiming for his readers to get turned on my his book...just my opinion though.

She is not unattractive, she was kinda sexy in the nighty thing when Sonny leaves before beating up Carlo. Personally as for her looks, I think they casted pretty accuratly because I sensed no discrepencies between the book's description of her and the actress who played her.

She looked very Italian and Sonny's wife looked rather American. I think they just wanted to show Sonny lusting for something from the old country - kind of like what Michael did in Sicily with Appolonia.

She's hotter looking the Monica Lewinsky, and Monica was able to get the president

Keep in mind that Sonny and Lucy also "fit" quite well together, and I don't think Sonny was the type to turn down an accomodation.
