New and old faces alike are making moves in New Jersey mob circles these days, per multiple sources on both sides of the law.

Either way, many of the last names, and some first names for that matter, are familiar to mob watchers on the East Coast.

After a lengthy absence from mob responsibilities, Anthony Staino, 66, has allegedly returned to the fold in the Philadelphia mafia as a part of the recent administrative shakeup, allegedly given “representario” duties with New York’s Five Families and the DeCalvacante mob organization in North Jersey. Staino, a South Jersey guy and the self-acknowledged “CFO” for the Philly LCN group, was briefly an acting underboss for the Bruno-Scarfo crime family in the late 2000s before he went to prison for a near decade on a racketeering conviction. His uncle Ralph (Junior) Staino was a longtime Bruno-Scarfo mob lieutenant in the Garden State and South Philly insiders say Anthony is being groomed for a future as the family’s consigliere.

Following learning both good, bad and ugly of mafia leadership by taking the notes at the feet of his dad, uncle and cousins, Joseph (Big Joey) Perna has the reins of the Lucchese mob’s New Jersey regime now, per sources, and is impressing bosses in New York with how well he’s handling his new job. Also coming from a prime LCN pedigree, Genovese mob figure Peter (Scarface Pete) Cataldo, is a capo of his dad’s old crew and lives in New Jersey while operating crew rackets in Jersey, Brooklyn and Staten Island, and showing off shot-calling skills for a Westside brass in the Bronx gaining more confidence in him by the day. The 54-year old Cataldo’s dad, former skipper Augustino (Crazy Augie) Cataldo passed away from natural causes in 2020.

Quiet-as-a-mouse alleged DeCalvacante crime family underboss Joseph (Little Joe) Giacobbe is the heir-apparent in the organization, per sources and being prepared to eventually become Godfather by getting put through an acting-boss training program these past few years which he passed with flying colors these sources report. Giacobbe’s dad was former DeCalvacante mob capo Joseph (Uncle Joe) Giacobbe. Current New Jersey mafia boss Charles (Charlie Ears) Majuri is 84 and looking forward to retirement soon, these sources claim. According to sources in the DeCalvacante’s, Jersey wiseguy 44-year old John (Johnny Balls) Capozzi is shaking and baking since his release from prison five years ago.

Reputed Garden State goodfella-affiliate David (Mustache Pete) Domino is a name that has surprisingly emerged in local LCN power circles as of late as a “connection guy,” for his ability at linking influential lieutenants from different crime families in and out of the area so they can do business together, per sources. Domino is a contractor and not accused of any criminal activity at this point, simply making introductions. Two sources say he is on-record with the Genovese mob and the point of contact in the area for the Chicago Outfit. A construction company owned by Domino is doing work on Philadelphia mob boss Joseph (Skinny Joey) Merlino’s soon-to-be opened cheesesteak shop in South Philly.

Staino goes from not being involved at all (allegedly) to being 'groomed' for consigliere? With all of those names back out on the street? Ok I guess.
