Hi friends,
As a lot of you old-timers know, I recently returned from a long absence due to filling out business school applications. I am happy to report that I have an update.
I was accepted at UCLA's Anderson School of Management for the MBA class of 2007! Anderson was one of my top two choices, and probably my #1. They are ranked #12 in the country, plus it's in a location with awesome weather and beautiful girls everywhere. I got an e-mail on Monday night congratulating me on my acceptance.
I'm still waiting on Stanford, Michigan, and USC. Right now it doesn't matter as much, since I already got an acceptance from a school that I would be thrilled to go to. Of course, I'd like to have choices, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for those other schools as well.
I'll update this thread as I hear more good (or bad) news. Thanks for all of the encouragement you've all offered over the past several months!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Very impressive list of graduate programs, and you've been accepted to one of them. That's HUGE Don Corpuzzi. Congratulations!
While I'm impressed with Michigan's academic credentials, TIS is right about the midwest winter weather. I wouldn't let that factor alone keep you from choosing Michigan, but your west coast choices all offer a great academic program in a temperate climate all year long!

Congratulations!! As a man who was accepted to UCSD, I commend you on your acceptance to UCLA and the UC system in general. That is no easy task by any means, and you deserve all the glory. UCLA is an outstanding institution of learning, and would not be a bad choice even when considering the other choices. You're absolutely right about the weather and girls though, so why not go for it!!
Have a cold one on the house. You've clearly earned it.

I just saw this... I don't know if you're still unsure, it's been 3 weeks since that post. Anyway, I'd say Century City or Culver City are the best choices, West Hollywood is awesome and close, but expensive. Westwood is obviously the best choice, but is getting expensive as well... although if you are not living alone, that helps a lot. I'm in Santa Monica, and it's not far, but it's not as close as you could be. I mean if you're moving closer FOR school, might as well really be close. Good luck!

I think I'm going to buy a study guide (something like GMAT for Dummies) and read through that, and then take the test this summer. Yeah, you have to take the GMAT to get into an MBA program just like you would take the SAT or ACT to get into college. I studied from a book and took a lot of practice test. Don't buy anything like GMAT for Dummies. I would recommend all of the GMAT books that Kaplan puts out (I think there are 4 of them) as well as The Official Guide to the GMAT, which is produced by ETS, which administers the test. The OG uses actual old test questions, so it'll be pretty accurate in terms of difficulty level. The Kaplan tests are really hard and your real scores will be much higher than you will score on any Kaplan practice test. Keep in mind that the GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), which means that the test adjusts depending on if you got the last question wrong or right. The more you get right, the harder the test becomes. Make sure you take several full-length timed tests on the computer, because doing it on paper just won't simulate the real thing. Feel free to e-mail me if you want any advice about the GMAT. Keep in mind that the test results are only good for 5 years, so if you aren't planning on applying to b-school in the next 5 years, I'd wait until later to take it.
