At one Time the neighborhood Bensonhurst was from what Sal Miciotta said in a Documentary was the BEDROOM of the Mob but things have Changed in the last 20-30 years with Italians Selling to the Chinese and Russians ETC and either going to Staten Island or Long Island my Question is does the Mob Still Operate in the Neighborhood or in other Neighborhoods like Bay Ridge Bath Beach Dyker Heights Gravesend or Sheepshead Bay ? And do Social Clubs still
Exist around the NYC AREA and Long Island as Well ?

Bensonhurst gets all the glory but Carroll Gardens has a longer history of mob infiltration, as it is part of the Brooklyn waterfront. Casso grew up at 321 Union St. Capone was married at St. Mary Shining Star of the Sea on Court St. The Gallo Bros home was at 50 President St. Bobby Boriello had a club on Court St.
Here's the link to a "Social Club" that still exists on Court St.

Here's another one on Henry St.

I Recognize the first one I Think Frank (Punchy) illiano and Albert Gallo used to Run that Club but the Second one looks like it isint Mob Affiliated just a Social Club for legitimate italians to Hangout

The court street one is gone now I’m pretty sure. Not sure about Bensonhurst specific though dyker heights and bay ridge are the more “Italian” parts left of that part of Brooklyn. I’m sure a few still exist I think there’s a bonanno one somewhere round there that’s still going. Most of the Brooklyn guys live in Staten Island + Jersey these days anyway

Actually Downtown Brooklyn is Historically considered the Original South Brooklyn

I didn't know anything about Bensonhurst untill I read Underboss by Peter Maas. Seems a great neighborhood.
Brooklyn is fascinating anyway with Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay etc...

Yes Carrol gardens is in what was called “south Brooklyn” which is not in literal south Brooklyn…

Probably my favourite part of Brooklyn round there, used to be working class area, today extremely wealthy

Yes Carroll Gardens is considered South Brooklyn and is just south of downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Boro Hall. The social club on Court St is still there, with the windows covered up, it's probably harmless now but at one time may have been a Scotto club. The Scotto's own many properties on Court St and became prosperous after he married Albert Anastasia's daughter. The was a Longshoreman's Union Hall on Court St named after Anthony Anastasio until about 12 years ago but they tore it down. The social club on Henry caught my eye walking down Henry St because it was a low key storefront that had nothing to sell. Now Mazzola's bakery moved in from across the street, probably because the rent was going up and the club looked out for the longtime bakery by letting them move in the empty storefront. These places were legitimate operations for organized crime that stayed legit after the waning of organized crime in the neighborhood.
