The Simone (Sam the Plumber) DeCavalcante Family, or what’s left of it, is in tatters and on the brink of extinction. It is a virtual shell of its former self. Using the most current information available from various law enforcement and other reliable sources on the underworld. Button Guys has comprised what we believe to be the most current and accurate picture available about the reputed membership roster of New Jersey’s only homegrown Cosa Nostra clan heading into 2024. Selecting the year 2020 as a starting point, up to the present day, we tracked all known members thought to still be currently active as well as those older members who have since retired or passed away in recent years. Due to their current state of upheaval and the lack of a vibrant underworld economy still available to the membership, there is still some conjecture as to exactly who's who...but this is the basic landscape of what's left of the borgata. https://thenewyorkmafia.com/the-sunset-of-the-decavalcante-clan/

Just took a look at it that is some excellent stuff you put together there! Thank you! Thank you RushStreet. I'm glad you read and enjoyed this piece. It was something a bit different and unique that I thought people might enjoy reading about.

Who will be their fate? Become a Gambinos crew? What typically happens in cases like this...a borgata is dissolved, and its remaining members are then parceled out to another Family, or families. The few existing members are generally given a choice as to which crew they "wanna" go with and are reassigned accordingly.

NYM this is an interesting article Alabama, New Jersey, & the Agrigento Network Examining the short-lived Birmingham Family and the Sicilian networks that connected it to the DeCavalcante and Gambino Families, among others. https://mafia.substack.com/p/alabama-new-jersey-and-the-agrigento

Yes, I agree Hollander. Although they were a small crew, they had deep connections across the country; with Chicago, Tampa, Alabama, etc., among them.
The Lolordo brothers date back to the "families" in early Chicago. After Patsy Lolordo was killed, his kid brother Joe allegedly avenged Patsy's murder and also helped rid Capone of Bugs Moran's Irish Crew by participating in the infamous "St. Valentines Day Massacre."
Thereafter, Joe Lolordo migrated back east and joined up with his Ribera amici in Jersey and eventually became a top capo for them over one of two NYC regimes they ran.

so if this is the case as has long been suspected, that the decavalcante crime family is close to finished, what is the process of winding this family down? as mentioned previous at some point members who still want to be in the life are allowed to switch to another family, likely one who already has a presence in new jersey...ex= genovese or lucchese. or i suppose hang on to whatever paltry rackets they may still have and grind out an existence as a small family. but in the state of nj they are so vastly outnumbered not just by other mafia crews but mostly bikers and street gangs. and with the age of some members and the american mafias reluctance to use violence in any way i dont see how they are not completely marginalized, unless by going under control of another family, the gambinos according to some have already done this.
i am not a subscriber ny mafia so i was not able to see the work you did, i can only imagine it is as good as all other material u and your group put out. there was a 2023 chart posted on here late in december and looking at that one alone doesnt inspire anything as far as a stable continuing mafia family.
another question? charles majuri is widely accepted as boss since 2016. but i cant imagine at this point the decavalcante would be in need of a standard admin. boss, ub, cons etc. majuri is a veteran mafia guy and if he cant manage to properly run this shrinking family with at most 2-3 guys supervising the street at most i'd be shocked. i mean what do we have at the top. majuri, stango, frank nigro??

Vito, thank you for that nice endorsement. I'm happy to see that you enjoy our bios and exposes'. To address one of your questions, yes, guys "in" the life and always considered members, whether or not they're retired or inactive for some other reason. Regardless of age. They can still be contacted if need be, or vice verse, they can "reach out" to someone if needed, accordingly. As far as you being a "button guy" on our site, all I can say is why not? Its inexpensive enough, so why not join up with us? I'd love to have you along for the ride and I know you'd love all our content. Because trust me when I say, as much as we post here on the forum, we've got so much more content that we don't, that we keep reserved for ButtonGuys "members only"....with lots more on the way as we relaunch our new site soon. Our annual subscription price will also be increasing with the relaunch, so why not lock in now at the lower rate. If you do, we will honor that price and it will never increase.

NYM do you think the Five families have a role in their future? Without a doubt...in the sense that whoever is left standing when all the smoke clears will be absorbed into the structure of one of NY's Five Families. They'll "re-affiliate" to one of those crews and essentially be "transferred." Depending upon how many are left and wanna transfer, they may even be "allowed" to remain as one single "regime" of one of the NY families; Gambino, Genovese, etc. But they would no longer be "DeCavalcantes" per se, at that point they'd be just another faction of NY.

As I know the Philly family is the more active out of NY. What are you saying, Furio? That Philly is MORE active than NY? Or that Philly is one of the more active families AFTER NY? Out of NY aka outside the city of New York. Aka Yes the Philly family is the more active apart NY. I hope I was clear.

I remembers the Servidio indictment fo selling drug and others while I dont find anything on Patriarcas. The Outfit ever had few made men and many associate while the Detroit is not a crime family but an extended blood family of Toccos,Giagalones or Zerills.

Furio,
IMO, based upon the activity, or lack thereof, over the last 10-15 years in both cities, Chicago and Detroit, I'd say that there really is no solid "Family" structure or formal network in either area as we've come to know it.
At best....at the very best, nowadays, these are the last remnants of "street guys" hanging by their eye-teeth, just trying to scrap by.
