Another very vicious gangland slaying took place many many decades ago, back in Brooklyn, NY when Pittsburgh boss Giovanni (John) Bazzano was lured under the pretext of a "group" dinner meeting with other Cosa Nostra leaders.
During the course of the dinner and their friendly get-together, he was set upon by everyone at the table, (which reportedly numbered a dozen to two dozen mafiosi,) who then beat and repeatedly stabbed him dozens and dozens of times, massacring Bazzano where he sat.
His mutilated corpse was then placed inside a burlap bag and thrown to the curb of a Brooklyn street...discarded like the trash they considered Bazzano to be. His grizzly remains were found early the next morning by passerby.
This was a legendary and pivotal killing in the annals and development of organized crime in this country. Something out of a horror movie. What year did this happen? In 1932, I think

In 1932, I think Was there any retaliation for this act of brutality? No, none whatsoever. To the contrary, this action was the retaliation for Bazzano's unauthorized murder of several of Pittsburgh's Volpe brothers, who were under the Mafia's protection and should not have been harmed. Bazzano's execution was the "vendetta" that settled the matter.
