I will watch it, but it will probably be the same things they covered over and over, i wish they would cover some other mafia stories, instead of Gotti , murder of Castellano and so on. Millions times same thing.

It looks like garbage, plus who would want to to see the Hindi take on him. It may be unintentionally comical or annoying.

LOL Hindi was the only trailer I could find on youtube haha..

Netflix aimes at a global audience so I can understand they go again with Gotti we mafia buffs heard/read the stories hundreds of times but in India for example most don't.

I watched this whole thing tonight.
It’s not bad, most of us know the main details but it was interesting to see the different agencies that worked against each other to try and be the first to get Gotti.
It was good hearing from the prosecutors and the guys who installed the bugs and cameras, etc.
It was even interesting hearing from the media reporters who covered it back in the 80s.

Not a bad series.

What did everyone else think of it?

If Gotti was never caught blabbing on tape he could've lasted at least another decade, even wearing all the fancy suits he wanted. I'm shocked that he said enough to fill the pages of a whole book, The Gotti Tapes.

Is this supposed to be in India? Maybe they want other people to know his story.

Agreed, if he kept his mouth shut, didn’t parade his captains around every week for the feds to track, he could have had a respectable run and a respectable reign, unlike how it’s looked at now.
Oh yea, and if he killed Sammy at some point too.

Watched most of it, when I saw Sal polisi and ruggiano as the mob contributors I didn’t have much faith, especially as we all know the story inside out. But it actually worked really well and gave us extra insight from the other sides perspective. It’s also the first time I’ve seen Diane giacalone give an opinion on the Willy boy situation where she effectively served him up to be killed to try and force him to testify - she takes no responsibility which explains how she has dealt with that over the years. She mentions that his lifestyle wasn’t conducive to a long life - guy was in his 50s and had been a CI for over 15 years..

Always wondered what her take was on it and it’s effectively “he was a bad guy and bad guys get killed” lol. She should’ve been prosecuted for that

I think it's a crime that Martin Scorsese made that bullshit lying ass movie about Frank Sheeran when there still hasn't been anything made on the DeMeo Crew, Vic and Gaspipe, Nicky Scarfo, Carlos Marcello, and many many others.

I didn't think it was bad. Obviously if you follow this genre, there isn't a whole lot of information that isn't out there about Gotti, but as another poster said it was neat seeing Diane Giacalone give her perspective and speak on the Willie Boy Johnson situation. As an aside, other than being Fat Andy's kid, was Ruggiano Jr ever straightened out? I think he alluded to being a made guy in the documentary, but I never thought he was?

It wasn't bad, just completely fictional. I expect Hollywood to venture a little bit from the truth, but that movie took it too far. Same with The Iceman movie.

I think the government gave an okay for Diane Giacalone to give up Willly Johnson. She deserves the blame, but she given movie deal and has been given great paying jobs afterwards. No punishment.

It was bullshit about Sheeran. Some good performances, though, especially Pacino, Pesce and Romano.

Francis Joseph Sheeran was an Irish drunk but he was involved in the Teamsters for many years and was close to Hoffa till the end.

I watched episode 1 yesterday and while we all know the main points, it does a good job at not rehashing the same old tired information about Gotti and the investigations into him. I learned several new things, saw new footage, heard new recordings and heard from investigators I'm not familiar with. Furthermore, the documentary is very well edited and I'm looking forward to the next 2 episodes, I recommend it.

The new footage and new recordings were what I liked about it the most. Whether you love the guy or hate the guy, there is absolutely no denying that the man had an infectious swagger about him.

John Gotti is the reason why a lot of us became interested in this topic. He certainly had style and charisma.

Just watched it and i though it was good. It's well produced so even though it's a well documented story, it's still enjoyable to watch.

As posters said, the best part is the law enforcement angle of the documentary. It's interesting to see about the strength and weakness of each cases. Having Giacalone on is also a big scoop.

The weakest part of the documentary is the mob men and woman they interviewed. They didn't bring anything interesting.

Yes Underboss was also one of the first books (when it came out) I read about American Mafia (I was more into Sicilian Mafia at the time)
