There are alot of Chicanos and Mestizos in street gangs. For a period and still hear it today, many of them were known as anchor babies, being one parent is a white United States citizen. There is a whole lot of slang terms for other races mixed in with Latinos and Mexicans. I know that from mid 1990s to late 2000s there was a lot of it going on, and I know some cases where one parent was deported back to Mexico or another Latino country and never seen again, a few would call their children up at least twice a year or more, and some where down right pieces of Crap who wanted nothing to do with the child or children or that side of the family, in some cases they started another family when they got back to their old country.
Sorry for the rant, experience form some of my friends and acquaintances growing up.
