I have a question; I’ve read recently that John Gotti considered Stephen Grammauta a dangerous rival and a guy who was a threat to his leadership.

How is this possible?? (Was it because he was one of the guys involved in Albert Anastasia’s demise??) Grammauta was old and was no potential threat to Gotti… also was Grammauta that feared??

It’s also being said that Grammauta refused to go to the Ravenite social club (Nino Gaggi did the same) when asked by John Gotti to do so…

How was Grammauta able to get away with this during Gotti’s entire reign as boss? And he (Grammauta) was still able to become a full-time captain in his elderly years with Gotti’s blessing.

Anyways; Where did the Grammauta and Gotti hostility come from?

Would love some responses!!

He was old and was friends with Joe Armone, so that may have had been part of it. I never read of major hostility between them, I think he was so old that may have also gotten him a pass if there was a problem.

Stephen Grammauta was 69 y old when Castellano died. He was a soldier and I dont understand why Gotti should be afraid of him. After all he become a capo in 1994 and in the 1990s was in the ruling panel for help Gotti jr.
For me, the only one who Gotti got along with was Gotti himself.

Zavattoni, do you remember where you read that? It doesn't sound right, so I m wondering about the source.

@Jace

I agree with you; I don’t think Grammauta was a threat in 1985… He was close with Armone and a lot of the old timers… Joe Arcari; Jimmy Brown; etc…

It’s also being said he never went to the Ravenite when “called or told to do so”

My source comes from an experienced poster on Instagram. He knows his stuff and is mostly believable and he puts out rare pictures of mob guys that we’ve never seen before. Most of his facts are true but this topic seems very sketchy…

@Furio_from_naples

I agree. I’m just trying to figure out the facts.

I never knew Grammauta to be feared by anyone… He was a old man in the 70’s and 80’s to even come close to being a threat to Carlo Gambino; Castellano or even Gotti.
