Was watching a pretty good Netflix series called Untold crimes and Penalties. It had an associate of Mayy the Horse, named Jimmy Galante, who was the trash king of Connecticut and parts of NY; and how him and his son got a minor league hockey team and then the team was disbanded once the FBI arrested James Galante. Pretty cool story and it seems the son who was 18 at the time and the GM of the minor league team did a good job of building a solid team, although it was baically illegal how he got the team together it did seem like the son had a knack for analytics and stuff. Is this James Galante still involved with the gangster life and it seems he was pretty powerful as the FBI basically had a chance to hand him a 100 year sentence.

Just watched the documentary. It's a great story, especially the Hockey part. As you say, you'd think the son would have made a mess of the team but he actually turned it into a great show and a successful team that is still fondly remembered today by fans and even the league executives.

It also gives you a good example of the kind of massive operation the Genovese can run.
