Did the Bonannos have a commission recognised boss after the ' Banana wars' ??
Say from 1965 - 80.
Surprised Galante never went hard for it. Or would he of, if he wasn't killed?

The Bosses are as follows

Gaspare DiGregorio 1965-67
Paul Sciacca 1967-1971
Natale "Joe Diamond" Evola 1971-1973
Rusty Rastelli officially the boss 1973-1985
Carmine Galante was acting Boss circa 1975-1979

The Bonannos didn't have a Commission seat but these were the recognized heads of the Family.

In the case of Lilo fighting for a Commission seat, I don't know but I would say Galante probably didn't give a damn. The moves he was making didn't seem he was trying to be cooperative

According to Massino's testimony, Galante started claiming to be the official boss in summer 1977, leading to his conflict with Rastelli.

Interesting that 40 years later Joe Cammarano tried to make himself the official boss to oust Mancuso and it also failed

I believe that's how it happened but the question is who really had the power on the street? The Galante hit did involve the Gambinos, so was Rusty powerful enough to take Galante on?
