Joe Mantenga is pretty well-known and John Cazale was making a lot of great movies after GF (Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter).Unfortunately, he passed away before The Deer Hunter came out and couldnt make anything after that. I bet he wouldve been in a bunch of other great stuff. The Fonda that was in GF3 is somewhat well known also.

Cazale was a spectacular actor. I mean, I can't think of anybody, dead, alive, a big star or an off broadway actor-no one could have played Fredo better. He was just as good in all of his other movies.

John Cazale...your remembered...

Danny Aiello played the Rosato brother who attempted to kill Frankie 5 Angels.

I also like Danny Aiello, but he never became as big as a star as he should of. Although, I guess to other, non Mafia-atics, can't appreciate him as we do. To them he is just one of the many that follow in De Niro's and Peschi's shadow.

Aiello was really good in The Last Don, although I did not like the movie very much.

IMDB credits John Cazale for :-
The Godfather Trilogy,
Deerhunter,
Dogday Afternoon,
Godfather part 11,
The Conversation
and The Godfather.

He surely was a great loss to the acting profession, I believe he would have gone on to many more major parts and been a huge success as the leading man in all he did.
Bustas' post reminded me of Joe Mantenga, I tend to overlook him tho he has done quite a bit of other stuff in his career. I like him as an actor also. He has a distintinctive voice and he read The Godfather on my audio tape smile

I agree Cazale was a very good actor, but don't think he would have been a leading man. He is similar to Christopher Walken in that way.

Whatever Freddie, I never rated Christopher Walken, would never put him in the same category as John Cazale. smile

He's the Guy who does the Vioce for Fat Tony on the Simpsons, and in the last Don, you almost expect to see Fat Tony walk on screen.

Just a little trivia/footnote about Bruno Kirby.

We all know that Bruno played young Clemenza in GFII and Richard Castellano was older Clemenza.

In the 70's there was a short lived TV show called The Super. About a super of a building and his son. The Super was played by Richard Castellano and the son was played by.......you got it, Bruno Kirby! No big deal but just thought that this info is a bit of fun trivia for us GF fans.

Don Cardi cool
