Sicilians do a much better job at running American Mafia families. Look at the Rizzuto Clan, all ran by Sicilians. Look at the Gambinos, it's the Sicilians who are repairing the damage done by John Gotti. Also look at Detroit, ran by Sicilians and still an underworld force. Look at the Bonannos, Joseph Massino basically tried to purge the Sicilians out of the family feeling like they were a threat and look what happened to them, though they still have a Sicilian faction. The future isn't in America anymore, the recruitment pool is of very low quality and it's only going to get worse.

A major advantage is that most of them have not been identified, and those that are the U.S. authorities don't have as long a jacket on them because of them having originated in Europe. Once LE tags them then they have the same problem as the american born guys.

Keeping to themselves and being "insular" also helps them. But if US guys act the same, they achieve the same results

I have a few Sicilians in mind that I may do deep biographies on down the road, after I clear the deck of ongoing projects presently under construction

US guys will NEVER act the same, and don't even know what Cosa Nostra is anymore. Newly inducted Lucchese soldier John Arpino, if I have the name right, didn't even know how to introduce fellow made men and associates and made men. His captain said something like, "Do we have to start handing out instructual manuals now?" None of these American newcomers hold Cosa Nostra sacred, but the Sicilians do. People give the government too much credit, you play the game right they can be beat, or you can at least make their jobs extremely hard and challenging. Gotti, Amuso, Casso, Scarfo, they made it way too easy.

Frank Cali had only ever served a couple of years at most in the can before he was murdered, I don't want to hear nothing about how mobsters can't have longevity on the streets in the RICO age and 21st Century, because it's already been proven wrong. Colombo soldier Nicholas Rizzo wasn't arrested until the age of 83, so yes it can be done. But Nicky Rizzo is old-school, that breed is dying out. The Persicos aren't good examples either because they have rap sheets as long as the Brooklyn Bridge, their name is too notorious to ever hope for successful Mafia careers and long tenure on the streets. And perhaps the Sicilians aren't out there doing unnecessary stupid shit to have long police files on them in the first place.

I knew one Sicilian, Charlie Murgie. He wasn't bashful about reminding Michael, Jo Jo or anyone else that he was the only Sicilian amongst them. Charlie was the son of a Sicilian Father that emigrated to the US as a member of The Black Hand.
Charlie was very insular to say the least.

Aren’t the Genovese the most powerful yet the least Sicilian of the 5 Families?

The current boss actually is of Sicilian origin, but you make a good point. But at the same time none of the other 4 can blame any Sicilians for their problems either.

As a Sicilian, I tend to agree. We do alot of things better, including our cooking. Not like those northern Italian gavoons that put Oregano on spaghetti sauce.

I thought putting oregano on spaghetti sauce was a strictly American thing

Yeah, but adding a hand full of fresh Basil at the end so all the flavor doesn't steam off, is good for everyone's spaghetti sauce :-)

I always thought that was the Greeks with the oregano.

Oh, whatever. You guys throw a smelly fish on top of everything. Give me a lasagna in Naples stacked as high as the Leaning Tower.
