This has been on my conscious the last few days;

Nick Marangello was Phil Rastelli’s underboss and betrayed him by supporting Carmine Galante who was the (Acting Boss) of the Bonnano’s for a period; Mike Sabella was a captain who also sided with Galante…. My question is…

Why didn’t Phil Rastelli have these two whacked and buried in cold-blood??

This shows weakness on Rastelli’s part;

You have a underboss and captain supporting a guy who was causing trouble in the family and becoming to big for his position.

My question is… Why did these two get a “pass?” And also why didn’t Phil whack them?? Was he that afraid of Galante to not whack his two “friends”..

Also Stefano Cannone was Consigliere at the time; He supported Rastelli and was pretty much #2 in the family despite his position; Did he speak up for Sabella and Marangello??

Would love some comments!

According to Pistone Lefty told him that Sabella and Nicky Glasses were going to get whacked but they were well liked so instead they accepted being knocked down to soldiers. Sometimes being too ruthless and killing guys that are well liked/respected doesn’t work out too well as we saw with Scarfo

Yep, Scarfo, Amuso, and Casso made those mistakes. Thank God Zavattoni isn't the head of a crime family, they'd be in shambles in no time.

@JCrusher;

Do you know if Marangello and Sabella were still taking orders from Phil Rastelli from prison or did they completely cut him off?? If they did completely cut him off; Marangello (who was in the administration should have been whacked) I saw a picture a few days ago of Stefano Cannone and Marangello socializing and it was ironic; Both we’re on opposite ends of the spectrum; One supported Galante (Marangello) and the other supported Rastelli (Cannone)

Did they really have a cordial business/friendship while supporting opposite bosses in the same family.

Also @JCrusher; You said being too ruthless and blood thirsty cause a family to deteriorate; Phil Rastelli killed Atleast 8 or so captains during his reign …. Marangello and Sabella were spared. Phil/Massino had the ruthlessness to get rid of them both.

@DillyDolly

You’re sarcastic …. Lol

I'm mostly with Zavattoni on this; not knowing the particulars in detail I can't say whether or not Sabella should have been given this pass (sounds like in fact it was not a pass but a pretty humiliating demotion), but treachery on the part of the Underboss is unforgivable. I'd want Marangello in a trunk by dawn.

I’m pretty sure they pleaded to the fact they were intimidated by Galante

I’m sure they said something along the lines of “ what were we supposed to do? Tell that guy no?”

Also they were old timers without crews and absolutely no threat to Rusty....

A March 1986 raid on DiBernardo's office seized alleged "child pornography and financial records." As "a result of the Postal Inspectors seizures [a federal prosecutor] is attempting to indict DiBernardo on child pornography violations" according to an FBI memo dated May 20, 1986.
Thousands of pages of FBI Files that document his involvement in Child Porn
