Apparently, if it's true, notorious rat Alpo Martinez was killed in a drive-by shooting. If true, will this change the behavior of snitches walking around thinking nothing will happen to them?

Speaking of mob,the last rat to be whacked was Mario Riccobene in philly in 1993 but only because he left the witsec and went back to philly.
The other oc groups doesnt have problem to kill the rats because have members that doesnt fear to spent even the entire life in prison if caught by the LE.

Exactly Furio, other groups are stronger and more powerful because they don't fear prison. Fear of prison is killing the Mafia.

The simple fact is these other groups still live and survive in the ghettos, grow up fighting for everything and are street tough. The Italians now live and are raised in the suburbs playing video games and grow up soft with no idea what it’s like to actually fight for anything, are given everything and live off the reputations of their older relatives who did fight for everything.

Exactly Majicraft, people born and lived in poverty in the ghettos dont fear prison because they didnt know another way of life plus expecially the blacks they had more protection.
The Mafia way of life is of course to kept the mouth shout but also to enjoy the money so the modern mobsters with some exception like Nicodemo doesnt have the mental force to face long sentences with the risk to made the end of Peter Schibetta.

Alpo became too brazen for his own good. He thought after all these years he could slip in and out of West Harlem they way he wanted to visit old friends snd see his relatives who still live there.

But you were/and are, a RAT! You put plenty of people away who are now either out of jail and back in the area, or have fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, etc.. that live around there. And they hate you!!

You drive in a big-ass RED Dodge Ram (big as day) around the neighborhood. With NO blacked out windows so everybody who wants to can see you plain as day? In an area where you grew up, everybody knows you, and you have enemies?

Well then you gotta be an idiot. You're just asking to get clipped....and they accommodated you!

He put guys in for life. Or decades behind bars. There was a ton of hatred for him.

Thats like Sammy Gravano walking around Mulberry Street repeatedly week after week. You don't think that somebody is gonna say, "next time that rat shows his face, lets have a piece handy so we can pop him?" Of course

He became too brazen and confidant that nobody would come at him in the year 2021. Theres a very famous phrase in the mob thats been repeated time and again over the years, "don't underestimate people"

Thats what he did.

Oh well...another rodent who met the exterminator spray! No loss to planet Earth. He hurt plenty of guys in his day. Yesterday was his turn at the brass ring.

Martinez flipped and made 24 years in prison? Bad deal,Gravano with 19 murders made only 5.

This is all so exaggerated it’s nonsense
Number 1 all the gangs respect the mafia and wanna work for them because of the MONEY
And your average citizen is deathly afraid of the mob. Who are these people that aren’t afraid? The only people not afraid are former rats because they know the leaders won’t order a murder cause they’re is no win in killing someone THAT ALREADY TESTIFIED
your avg person on the street is afraid of the mob. End of story

Absolutely, unlike the Mafia, who knows vengeance is a dish best served cold, street gangs are generally run by youths who are far more impulsive and reckless and give little thought to the consequences of their actions. Once word got out on the street that Alpo was back in the Hood, the meter was running.

The drug culture acts a little differently to snitches than the Italian mafia these days; and everyday shootings in large cities like Philly, Chicago, and NYC prove that these young up and comers do not value life to much and want their corners and kill for them

Italian mafia in Italy is totally different thing , this year in April brother of rat got killed , brother had nothing to do with organized crime. Two years ago 'Ndrangheta killed informant's brother on xmas day , somehow they found him in witness protection program.

No ones afraid of prison, they’re afraid of life in prison, doing a few years or even 10 is all part of the game.

Back in the day a 20 year sentence was huge, they didn’t give out football numbers like they do today, and back in the day when you got 20, you only had to serve 8-10 years of that

You can’t compare the bygone eras of yesteryear to today, the laws are totally different and much more draconian

I disagree, plenty of wiseguys serving time for murder and other violent crimes have gotten out in recent years or are getting out. Everyone uses the life sentence excuse, please, wiseguys in the 1940s were going to the electric chair and it still didn't slow down the murders. Your average mobster these days get sweet plea deals and light sentences, only rarely do they get really serious time. When was the last time you seen a mobster get 100 years like those bosses in the 1980s? Exactly, they only did that to set a precedent and it looked good for the headlines.

And people today are also going to prison for life and taking it...

no matter the era they’re always going to be die hards that are willing to do the time..

.but so many less people got huge sentences or life sentences back in the day compared to today..

.why do you think the old timers had a rule that you never plead guilty...

now that rule is almost 40 years outdated...

everything changed with first RICO and more importantly the 1985 Bail reform act and mandatory sentencing and point guideline sentences...

Louie, people, mobsters included, have always faced serious consequences for murder. I actually think most mob hits were unnecessary, but there are times when it's VERY necessary or you stand the chance of your organization or crew losing face or clout.
