Japan is a fully modernized country with the majority of the population being middle or upper class, I can`t see how organized crime life can perpetuate, Yakuza will die out just like how La Cosa Nostra lost its power.

Wealth doesn’t eradicate vice. Not all vices can/will be legalized. There will always be someone who will provide them. Unfortunately.

Well yeah they will still exist for sure, just without the same amount of membership and power. Organized crime thrives in a fast industrialized society where criminals can take advantage of the booming economy and infiltrate local businesses unless it`s a drug organization. Japan doesn`t have a big drug-using problem and the legal framework for protecting businesses is complete, more importantly, who would want to join the yakuza at this day and age? The majority of Yakuza members today are over 50 year old, just like in the states LCN members are getting older and older. There`s no future for being a gangster in Japan.

Japan does have a drug problem, just not in the sense you are thinking of. Yakuza is not going away, just its power and influence in many areas.

If I remember correctly, there was a top Yakuza member years back by the name of Makito Takahashi, Takihoshi, or some similar spelling, who was one of their top bosses in charge of loanshark-usury operations.

He was known as a very vicious gangster. One of their most feared.

They have a storied history. Although I never delved into them, the Yakuza does intrigue me.

Yep, they will adapt to tougher laws and go more underground, but yakuza will always be involved in Japan, there will always be outcasts in the performance-oriented Japanese society who can only make a name for themselves in the underworld.
Difference with LCN they still have links to top politicians and business leaders.

The days of power brokers like Yoshio Kodama are long over, but now and then media still report about scandals with links to the yakuza.
