It's really ironic that in the photo of him form 1992 the FBI agent arresting him is Lindley DeVecchio. He backed Scarpa and gave him information to help him in the feud.

I seriously doubt Orena has any shot at all. The G doesn't want him out

I'm not saying weather he should be released or not, but there's killers half his age that are being released healthy..NY State is releasing cop killers etc...

I doubt they let him go, as much as he should be released. They let out younger and way more dangerous people. He is in for killing a gangster, not for intentionally killing a civilian. Plus he is no longer a threat, although they will claim he is. Yes, cop killers, domestic and foreign terrorists, rapists, they all are given more leniency than him and other mob guys. 30 years served and he is senile and sick. It probably will not matter to them.

. I know we don’t agree much but I agree it’s very ironic. Devecchio is a real piece of crap. Many NY cops(like my father) were disgusted how he was not only keeping Scarpa on the street but helping him in the war

Agree, I don't know when that information was made public, I assume it was after the photo accompanying the news story was published.

Sorry, but no sympathy from me. Let him die where he is, when he was on the street I'm sure he had very little sympathy for anyone especially the innocent civilian bagel boy that was killed during the war he started. I don't recall him showing any real remorse over that or any other incident over the years. And if he did too bad, it's ore likely phony remorse anyway. BTW do any of his victims get to come back from the dead to spend time with their grand children?

His victims were rival gangsters; the one innocent person killed was not on purpose and he probably did regret it. He has been in prison for 30 years, almost no one get kept in that long aside from mafia members or associates like Mark Rieter. He is 86, if hundreds of others get released after planning cop murders, or running a gang and killing people are being let out, he deserves to go home.

@Jace;

I agree; His victims were rival gangsters.

He has served 30 years in the can and is a sick; old man.

Let him enjoy the rest of his days with his children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren...

I know alot of people arn't going to agree with me...

" the one innocent person killed was not on purpose and he probably did regret it" One of, if not the best apologist lines I've read. LMAO. Oh, then I'm sure his family feels much better knowing their teenage son was killed unintentionally by gangster gun fire. You're better off just saying you disagreed with me because that is some funny stuff. I happen to think they should all do the time they're given. I've never waivered from that except I do go back and forth about Bobby Manna. But if he dies in prison so be it. What's the expression, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time". Again zero sympathy for these killers. These guys all live the tough guy life on the outside, girls, money and the many tangible items at our expense., Then they go to jail and get old we should feel bad? Sorry how about this, dont get caught or even better don't go criminal.

The only argument I think you could make for paroling Orena would be, as someone else alluded to, that the Government (DeVecchio) played a role in supporting the Persico faction. Their hands were dirty too. But of course, so were Orena's. They would have been dirty whether the Government was involved or not.

I agree with majicrat - just because we're fascinated by mob culture, watch the Sopranos and can quote Scorsese movies doesn't make these cool guys, and certainly not innocent parties. This guy is responsible for taking that kid's life. Yeah, I hope he does feel bad about it, he certainly should. That's not a pass out of jail.

The wages of sin are death.

Victor Orena should be treated the same as any other criminal.

Since the government sees fit to sponsor bail rasing initiatives, commute sentences and release other violent offenders (some much more violent) then the same considerations should be given to all inmates. It shouldn't matter if the person is BGF or LCN. Many of the younger inmates released go on to commit additional violent crimes and DAs just shrug their shoulders then proceed to push them through the revolving door. If Orena is released I highly doubt we'll read about him pistol whipping and carjacking a pregnant woman on the UES.

Rather than giving priority to releasing Orena or other mobsters, in my opinion they should put back in jail all those cop kilers, rapists, terrorists etc you mentioned, who get early releases. Even though of course, that will never happen...

Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:

1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."

2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."
