Do you know why Joe Gallo was so close to Joe Armone ?

When you read Joe Dogs Iannuzzi's book, it even looks like Joe Piney was reporting directly to Joe Gallo, the same way the Fatico or the Ruggiano crews would report directly to Neil Dellacroce.

Joe Piney was also instrumental in obtaining Joe N Gallo's tacit support for the Castellano hit.

Gallo was also Tommy Agro’s sponsor got membership and he was with Armone

I didn't know Joe Gallo was Tommy Agro's sponsor for his induction.

It makes sense because from what Tommy Agro said to Joe dogs, he was in Armone crew but he also reported directly to Joe Gallo.

That’s correct he was in Arnone’s crew but Gallo was indeed his sponsor. Your sponsor doesn’t always have to be your direct superior. For example Andy Ruggiano’s sponsored John Gotti as a favor to Neil because Neil has sponsored one of Ruggiano’s guy. I don’t know the full specifics but Ruggiano was upset that Gene Gotti got made Before his guy Nicky Corozzo so they each sponsored the others protege

Joe N. Gallo was in Stefano Armone crew. He went from soldier to Consigliere, never was a an official Capo but was acting for Charles Dongarro for a couple of years, and when Joe Riccobono retired, Joe Gallo became Consigliere of the family.

great article as usual, it sounds like gallo sr although serving as consigliere still operated a small crew.
wondering if this is normal for a consigliere or if it depends on the family and activity of consigliere.
the consigliere position has always been a bit confusing when looking at some of the guys who have served in it across different families.
the outfit in chicago the consigliere position never really had the same role as in east coast families if u think of tony accardo. accardo was the final say in what went on in chicago and was recognized as the BOSS/consigliere until his death.
the long held belief that this role is always held by a senior member has been thrown out the window when u list some current and past cons.
jojo corozzo,the 5-6 cons that the bonannos have alleged to have over as many years,john matassa jr alleged in chicago?
seems like some families use it as a political position to appease other factions of family or a way to isolate or shelve members.
francesco arcadi in mtl is thought to be a kind of consigliere/senior advisor for the younger admin in that city but also is the leader of his own cell of soldiers.

Accurate article....Joe N Gallo is definitely underrated in wiseguy lore atleast when it comes to the public.... made millions of dollars a year back when millions of dollars was millions of dollars and did it for 25 years plus.... sometimes no matter how good you are you get caught up in other peoples bullshit and that’s what happened to him w Joe Dogs, Tommy Agro and Paulie Castellano....

Your kinda right jace.....both agents were fired shortly after the writing of that book...but they stick 2 thier story...specially about the passage in the book were they were supposedly donning blacksuits & drugged big Paul's dogs...go figure..
