One of the smartest and most venerable of N’drangheta bosses to ever operate on Canadian soil was the legendary Don Giacomo Luppino.

A well-established N’dranghetista by the time he arrived at age 55, he slowly and quietly went about building a small, but tightly woven, profitable Calabrian clan of racketeers and hoodlums...here is his life story!

Of all the many exposes' I've researched and written about. The many varied crews across America, Canada and Italy, I find Luppino to be have been among the most shadowy of all.

He operated in the most surreptitious manner imaginable. He was there, and yet a ghost, for decades!

I hope you enjoy the story.

We welcome any additional intel that forum members may have to boast our collective knowledge of Luppino or his sons.

Great article! Love the smaller city families and crews.

Luppino’s wife was a Todaro, any idea if she’s related to the Buffalo Todaro’s? That would explain the continued relationship between Hamilton & Buffalo if so.

Thanks, Ben.
Good question. I don't know if there is any blood relationship there.

I don't think so Buffalo's Todaro family are sicilian, while his wife Domenica emigrated with him from Calabria.

Also I don’t know if you meant that the Bordonaro is Calabrese...he isn’t..he is Sicilian...from Racalmuto to be specific.

I believe his son became a lawyer that was used by the Families in Hamilton.

Cool, I saw that you made the change to the error in your article regarding the pic in question, that guy isn’t Ivan Gallo.

Anyone know anything about Gerry Attard? I found this article.

No. Just that they were all connected to the Sicilian based Magaddino crew

Gerry Attard is associated with the Luppinos but has done business with the Papalia and Musitano families. He is a gambler and money launderer. The article mentioned Florida and horse farm, but he had a relative who owned a horse farm in Connecticut. Ironic really, when you dig into Toronto you hear and find connections with other large cities and their surrounding areas but their connections to Connecticut is numerous.

I.G, G.A, and D.C. are Ivan Gallo, Gerry Attard, And Dominic Costa. I mistook the guy for an undercover cop, until another poster said his name was Ivan Gallo.

Giacomo Luppino was indeed a capo in Magaddino crime family. Buffalo was a big family back in the day with at least 30 percent of its membership in Canada. Since then it has shrunk to 30 percent confirmed (Violi tapes) and 40 percent unconfirmed now a days.

There is also Diego Luppino alleged in court filings to be one of the most senior and wealthy figures in the Australian 'Ndrangheta.

Yes, I've seen that name Diego. What is his position and activities according to law enforcement?

Aren’t the Papalia-Italiano also big in Australia?

Domenico Italiano and Domenico Papalia were named as the leaders.
