Frank DeCicco was the last, huh? I was looking at the picture of the aftermath and it's really scary imagining something like that happening just in a neighborhood in America. Seemed like even the bystanders looked disturbed. Shootings were one thing but this was weird. They had to have been wondering if this would become a norm. Gravano's description of it in his book was horrifying.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

Yes was the last also because after 9/11 a car bomb would generate to much heat.

In July 1972, a prominent local attorney, William Coulthard, died in a car bombing in downtown Las Vegas. Car bombing was a popular mob tactic in Vegas in the 1970s and 1980s.

Furio, Frank DeCicco is indeed the last mobster killed in a car bombing, but since 9-11-2001, there have been two other car bombings the mafia has used, a couple years back, there was one in Southern Italy, that method is still rare.
