Vito Genovese (November 27, 1897 – February 14, 1969) was an Italian-American mobster who rose to power during Prohibition as an enforcer in the American Mafia. A long time associate of Charles Luciano, Genovese took part in the Castellammarese War and helped shape the rise of the Mafia and organized crime in the United States. He would later lead Luciano's crime family, which was renamed the Genovese crime family.

The Luciano book is based on myths and invented informations. None of the Italian bosses ever suggested a non-Italian criminal as a member of their commission simply because it was, and still is their own thing

B & B also quotes Carl Sifakis a lot and I find his views on the Commission also very peculiar.

He states that there in fact were 2 commissions, the one we all know and the one of the National Crime Syndicate, consisting of 3 Jews (Lansky, Zwillman, Guzik) and 3 Italians (Adonis, Costello, Accardo) and he even implies that this commission was more important and powerful than the LCN commission.

Guys like Lepke and Lansky were only high level non-Italian gangsters who cooperated with US Cosa Nostra on daily basis and they also attended meetings on which faces such as Luciano and Costello were present. The US CN was always different from the European model simply because the whole country was made of various nationalities which constantly cooperated with each other, even today, no matter if legit or not. So if someone wants to call a dozen of meetings between the previously mentioned criminalsfrom different nationalities a "second commission", let it be since there was only one real commission and it was all Italian. Me personally, I would rather name the close connection between the Italian and non-Italian gangsters simply as a "clique", instead of a "second commission". I would also rather believe in a one time second and lower level Italian commission on the Midwest, possibly controlled or represented by Chicago

From the start of the Commission through the 1950s, Some Jewish gangsters were basically part of the commission. They had more clout than many Italian bosses. I don't care what Italian gangsters believed, or were led to believe. It's the truth. When Lansky was chased out of Cuba, the Jewish influence among the Commission had just about ended.

Also heres even one doc presented by the FBI which confirms my previous statement regarding Lansky meeting only with commission members seperately but not being personally a member himself. In fact if you look at his and others' files, like for example the second doc, Lansky was a high level associate of the Genovese family which also explains his close ties to Chicago. And yeah its true that sometimes the Jewish or non-Italian faction was represented by Lansky if there was a problem or a huge business deal with the Italian commission, which obviously he had to sit with them from time to time
