Very limited info.

Did he give up the title to Bruno or was he pressured?

Seems to be that he left before Carlo whacked Anastasia.

Did he just fade into the sunset?

He was deported in 1959 and was close to many of the Genovese New Jersey members. He and Dominick Olivetto were both caught in 1957 at the big meeting. Olivetto had enough and retired as underboss a month later, and Antonio Pollina became the New Underboss. While Ida was locked up, he named Pollina acting boss. Ida gets deported in 1959 and names Pollina as boss which the commission approves (Notably Tony Strollo of the Genovese, Joe Profaci of the Colombos and Joe Bonanno of the Bonannos). Ida lives in Calabria, Italy, until he shows up in Toronto, Canada in 1962, from there he sneaked back into Philadelphia in 64'or 65'. Pollina and Angelo Bruno had a beef and Bruno reached out to Tommy Lucchese and Carlo Gambino in New York in 1960. That same year the commission deposed Pollina and Bruno was installed as boss.
