the bonannos have at least 14 captains and plenty of active soldiers. they have many many earners and yet they are one of the weaker families in ny. anyone who wants to compare the bonannos or any of the five families to chicago needs a fucking lobotomy.

I think that Tony Gallichio is another sleeper. Tony,Johnny "GiGi" Rovito and Paul Carparelli were partners in a restaurant. If you remember in the wiretaps between Paul and George Brown, Paul was mad because George had tried to go around him and get "work" from "Tony". Paul and one of the other owners had a falling out over the investigation. I believe that Tony is the son of another former Outfit member/associate.

The NY families had more soldiers and many more associates while Chicago always had a core group of made men and many non-Italian associates and few of them had the status of capos and was respected even he wasn't italian. Also the Outfit was more oriented to white collar rackets while in the other family especially the bonannos the drugs was the main racket.

No Tony Gallichio.

http://www.villageofbloomingdale.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/295
scroll down it will be on your left under Capri pizza and deli.

I believe his father is the one mentioned here in this case, Pete may have been his grandfather.

@ slick I was referring to his relative. I think there was a rush street or grand Avenue crew member named Pete Gallichio.

To elaborate on ChiTowns mention of the zip cocaine ring in itasca/addison:

Chinaman, not doubting you but what's the reasoning for having the Outfit more active then Philly , Boston and the Bonnanos ? as I haven't seen any current info about Chicago that I'm aware of at least . Im curious to know what rackets they are still into outside losnsharking and drug robberies.

It's somewhat peculiar for things to be so quite yet activities allegedly so active , they have to be doing business with someone to be active and the neighborhoods are always talking about this scam or that scam that gets out.

The Bonnanos are weaker than the top 3 famalies and are somewhat looked down upon cuz of their mostly blue collar rackets and violent ways but they still have an army of soldiers and associates knee deep in drug trafficking with some major wholesale traffickers in at least Marajuana (1000s of lb level ) and likely much more and probably international and major cigarette tax scams . They also have tens of millions in loans and multiple times that in gambling in the streets plus robbery crews in most boroughs and still a violent involved in brawls , stabbing shootings and murder . Although less they also have some union activity as well .

The outfit are no doubt sharp and secretive but I find it very hard to believe they are more active then the Bonnanos who might not be very powerful but are active as shit in everything and anything with a couple hundred of soldiers and associates scamming every day . I need to hear some legit proof of that to consider it so please share what you can

Some years ago Italian investigators learned that Chicago was among the families who recruited the most Sicilians.

always thought literally everything out there about the post-Vegas Outfit was overblown. their power has always been exaggerated by people online. there hasnt been any big case since family secrets and even that was all decades old shit that got dug up. i never was big on "family rankings" but theyd be at the bottom of the list if you were comparing with NY, Decavalcantes and Philly. maybe even below Boston, in terms of active guys, active scams, and active prospects. sure, you got a lot of rich powerful businessmen in the outfit...but thats all it is... oldtimers who are making money legit or quasi legit coasting off their reputation from 40 years ago

The Cicero Crew's bankroll alone is worth more than whatever that nj family has on the street. combine all 4 remaining street crews, and your assessment is beyond delusional.

In 1959, LIFE Magazine estimated that the Chicago Outfit's revenue constituted 6% of the U.S. national income.

Read this in a article about Tony Accardo. You think that is true?

They are %100 still going, select with the members they take that are related though. I cant even remember the guys name now, but he was doing work out in California, he's a cousin of Rudy Fratto, his son is %100 being groomed to join some day. Same with numerous of the La Mantia boys, not even sure whos sons they are, but they are grandsons of Shorty. The Caruso's, more than just Frank Jr. The Di Fronzo next gens seem to all be filling in as associates, taking over their fathers legal rackets, the one who is a criminal may not be mentally stable enough to join, + his drug problems, Joes son. Even the Borselino's with what happened to their father/grandfather, numerous of them through Louis his 2nd eldest are affiliated.

Don't know about the new Outfit, but The Outlaws MC are still strong on their home turf.
