Salvi Testa was truly betrayed by his closest buddies.

Can you class the Di_-B(Gambino Fam.)hit as true betrayal? Not sure

I don't class the Castellano hit as being a betrayal. Well, maybe De Cicco betrayed him, not sure how close they were.

De Meo betrayed? Sort of

I know what the mob rules are meant to be,but still setting up childhood friends for death is something else.

Others? Giancana?

Persico almost strangling Larry Gallo after switching sides in the Profaci/Gallo war.

as far as Salvie Testa, I don't think Joey Punge had much of a choice but everybody else involved definitely seems to have. and there were certainly people that betrayed Big Paul including sammy.

Testa was betrayled by Scarfo st that ordered to whack him only because in a newspaper article Testa was called the crowned prince of the mafia and in his paranoia feared that salvie could take his place as boss.

Lucky Luciano setting up both Joe the Boss and Maranzano.

The 3 Bonanno Capo's murder. Came for peace. Ended up dead.

Didn't Carmine Galante get killed by some of his own bodyguards?
If so I would consider that a betrayal.

Wild Bill Cutolo getting killed long after the Colombo wars of the early 90's were over because the rival faction was afraid of his power.

Just a few of the top of my head.

There was more to it Chuckie was in his ear and all the other families were watching the out come to see if Nick was going to stand behind his life long friend and underboss.

Then there were a few of the other skippers in Nicks ear about everything Sal was doing and some he did not do .
The other skippers wanted Salvie rackets so bad they would tell it to Chuckie and to each other ... plotting and scheming the hole time !

And I know that many take to Nick Caramandi but he was just as bad as any of them ,, don't believe him for one minute that he felt bad !! He knew every racket and fucking dollar amount tied to it !!

But one of the things was drugs with the blacks from the north east philly and trust me mega dope was and still is running through there and the was big money behind it and someone put it out there that Salvie had plenty of cash and the connections to finance it , if he did it or not !

Once it's on the street it's done !!!

Then the are the woman , you have to remember all these guys had houses down here at the shore and all there relatives all so and Salvie had a banging ass spot and trust me he got the best chicks , but the bad thing he did all this under all made guys noses and regular folks and there relatives .

As long as he was marrying her they looked the other way but once he cancel that close to the wedding it was over , and he was living with a hot chick in Philly on top of it all .

And yes I am sure that the things you mention where in Nicks head , but I knew him and it was the other families looking in is what he was concern do it even if the other families did not expect it Nick thought they did , just the way he thought!!!

Giancana definitely sticks out in that category. Shot in the back of the head while in his own home by someone he was comfortable enough with to invite inside and cook sausage+peppers for. It had to be someone close to him. No doubt about it.

Also with Chicago I would throw the Anthony Zizzo murder/disappearance in there. In the life for 50+ years then vanishes after an alleged beef with Michael Sarno whom he supervised so that would also implicate the rest of the outfit or at least hierarchy. I know it's just a theory and most likely will never be solved but I don't believe for a minute that he just went on the lam.

Anthony Mirra being betrayed by his uncle, Alfred Embarratto, and especially his cousin Joey D'Amico. Mirra was already cautious and marked for death but trusted D'Amico. He gave D'Amico a ride sometime in the early 80's, and he was shot dead. - Betrayed.

Can't forget; Angelo Bruno being betrayed by Antonio Caponigro. One of his top advisors.

Phil Testa; Betrayed, and blown to death by some of his men.

Victor Orena betraying Persico and trying to poll all the captains so he could become Boss. That didn't go so well.

How about Joe Massino the boss of a family ratting everybody out. That certainly qualifies as as a betrayal.

Is it Giancana where it's said that the Feds/ police were always watching him and in that small amount of time when they were "called away" his assassin arrived and killed him. Biasi??butch?

That whole Genovese/Philly plot was betrayals all over; Bruno by Bananas: Bananas by Tieri

It's been said to have happened that way but there are theories ranging from his driver/bodyguard Butch Blasi (Who IMP was the one who did it) to Anthony Spilotro (Implicated by capo Sal Bastone) and even on orders from Santo Trafficante. Butch Blasi was supposedly seen by agents earlier in the day then left and came back in a different vehicle but managed to avoid detection coming into and leaving the house. Spilotro was rumored to know the house inside and out as well though.

I personaly do not believe that some of those guys were ever betrayed, mainly because all of them made mistakes which destabilized the cash flow, made secret deals, or brought other members of the organization in danger. None of the bosses ever liked secrets or lies and on top of that, none of those guys were innocent. Most of them were pure obstacles and in the eyes of the gangsters, these things meant nothing more than simple business activities. Plus we cannot talk about betrayal in an organization which deals with corruption and murder, obviously beacuse its an everyday thing

Sammy the Bull whacking out DB.

Every day when the pyramid scheme that is LCN goes around. The fact that guys are "expected" to keep a piece back for themselves and lie to the upper echelon. Or overtime a made guy goes away and his family (if anything) gets a tiny amount of $.

I would offer Castellano's killing of Frank Piccolo. Siding with another family for profits instead of taking care of your own...

IMO - Casso's entire career. After he got the power, the guy was constantly setting up proxies then a proxy to oversee the proxy. This repeatedly resulted in Casso having proxy 2 kill proxy 1.

Fucked over DeCicco & Gotti, D'Arco, Chiodo, Patty Testa, Amuso, "Whack Jersey" not to mention he chiseled that family outta house and home while he was on the lam. The balls on this guy to be in hiding and still heavily lean on the biggest earners in the family to dump hundreds of thousands into reconstruction on his wife's mansion.

The shorter list would be guys he didn't fuck over and it was only because he got pinched before he could have em set up for something. Georgie Neck, Frank Last, and Frank Pagagni are they only people who come to mind and those were his young turks that panned out. Had he not been on the run he surely would've had another wave of young shooters to fuck over these three as well.

Always stuck with me as one of the more under-discussed topics on here. Cutolo is truly a fascinating story, unfortunately I think at lot of it gets lost in translation due to his son ratting then promoting himself on TV whenever possible.
