I've been biking more than usually lately, on the basis that I want to be fit, but I don't want any muscle definition. That is, I want to look like a man, not some unrealistic ideal of a man... I'm not athletic in anyway, which I couldn't give a shit about, I just need to get to a point where I can run more than three feet without running out of breath. I can't imagine myself doing anything more, IE lifting weights, because like I said, I don't want to look like a jackass. I wish I had the courage to not care when I was your age. Not that I did anything to change the situation, but I used to feel bad about not not conforming to the mean of the social bell curve. Now I can't care less what anyone thinks about me. I won't particiate in some sport where guys twice my size compete for establishing their alpha-male status. It is just pointless. I used to follow sports just to be able to talk in a group. Now I declare right up front that I don't know or care about it.

I can admire some athletes for their skill and the physical demand that sports call for, but I really want no part of it. It's just funny, because subsequently, mostly all of the athletic-type kids in my school are complete morons and ingrates with a diminished sense of humor and even less of a personality. I think I'm lucky... My town/school doesn't have anywhere near an abundance of the intellectually intelligent, philosophical, artistic, or musically inclined, but it has enough for me to be beyond happy and content with those I call my friends. And I'd much rather spend my time with a group of people interested in using their minds to create than a group of people interested in using their bodies to destruct. But believe me, after high school, college and a couple of years in a full-time job, the chasm between jocks and non-jocks shrinks.
