Actually during the conversation, one of the critics interviewing said although he thought Vito was great, he thought Michael Corleone should have been number one. Tough choice between the two I think. ohwell

I.S. I saw the same Today show myself. I'm curious did you agree with him? What I mean is did you agree with him and his thinking Michael should be number 1? He mentioned Michael as being the center piece to the saga. I beg to differ considering I feel most people remeber Vito Corleone when they think of this saga.

Hi DFTC,

I know that Vito is actually "The Godfather" in the sense of the film, and in even more years to come will be thought of when GF comes to mind.

Yet, trying to set aside the fact that Pacino is my favorite actor, I still feel Pacino's character, not to mention his flawless portrayal of Michael, was far more impressive, showing a young sweet naive' man transform into a cold blooded/cold hearted murderer, made him the "best" move character. wink Not to take away from Brando, who too was excellent. Just my opinion. ohwell Like I say though, it is a tough choice.

You also have to factor in the younger Vito played by De Niro. Even the youngest Vito played by Baldini. smile

Good point Freddy C. I didn't even think of young Vito. Gee, makes it even a harder choice, as I thought DeNiro was exceptional as Young Vito as well. ohwell

Yea I agree its a tough choice. I tend to like them both equally at times however I sometimes walk away from GF II angry at Michael I'm never angry with Vito.

i think michael is a far greater character than vito...at least michael tries to end it all for the welfare of his family...vito doesnt!
