So I am re-watching this series. In the episode "Isabella", Donnie Paduana is contracted by Junior's crew, specifically Mikey Palmice and Chucky Signore, to kill Tony. He in turn hires two black guys (or, per Paulie, the "Jamaican Bobsled Team with cap guns") to hit Tony. In one scene, Christopher blocks off the would be assassins from getting out of their car and killing Tony.

In a later scene, after Donnie apologies to Mikey Palmice for the hit not going through, Mikey kills Donnie at Junior's behest for Donnie's perceived "mouthy" remark about Olivia wanting Tony popped.

My question is, as at this point in the episode Tony has not been killed, and as Donnie is dead, wouldn't the would be assassins have second thoughts about going through with the hit? It is likely they would be in regular communication with Donnie. Wouldn't they have had second thoughts if they couldn't get a-hold of Donnie or if they had gotten word he was wacked?

Plot hole?

Thoughts?

It's safe to assume his body was gotten rid of quietly. He wasn't killed to make a statement, it was impulsive. Likely nobody knew he was dead for a short period of time at the minimum.

The shooters as well were making a second attempt on a well understood rush job so it is likely that when they talked with Donny he comfirmed that it was still on and to get it done ASAP. This was what is thought to be the final conversation I would assume. The next one would have been the "it's done call". Regular conversation, yes, but not so regular they were calling daily.

Plus, one may imagine they weren't calling directly about murdering the #1-1A mobster in New Jersey. Probably pay phones since burner cells weren't around yet at that point in the show. Only explaining this because one may assume they never even "couldn't get ahold of Donny" as they died waiting to make the call that never came.

They are shown driving off right after Mikey shoots him. They check to make sure he is dead and then drive off. His body stayed in the open.

Makes sense.

You're right, they do leave the body. I guess we're to believe those guys didn't watch the news or read the papers or that his body took days to be discovered in his car.

Plot holes indeed, but the show is full of them if you dig

A lot of plot holes. I remember in the very first episode how Silvio asked Tony if he grew up with a guy named Artie Bucco.
