Assunta Maresca better known as Pupetta was a former beauty queen who became a well-known figure in the Camorra. She made the international newspaper headlines in the mid-1950s when she killed the murderer of her husband in revenge



ROME - After 13 years on the run, the woman with 'the eyes of ice' who reputedly directed a crime syndicate for her imprisoned brother gave herself up to police who came knocking at dawn yesterday at a fortified villa outside Naples, police said.
The arrest of Rosetta Cutolo, 57, in the mob stronghold of Ottaviano was the second important strike by authorities at organised crime in less than a month. On 15 January, the man believed to be the Siclian Mafia's 'boss of bosses,' Salvatore 'Toto' Riina was arrested in Palermo. He had been a fugitive for 23 years.
Authorities believe Rosetta Cutolo had been running the syndicate for her brother, Raffaele Cutolo, who is serving a life sentence in a Sardinian prison for crimes in the name of his Nuova Camorra Organizzata, a powerful branch of the Camorra, as Neapolitan crime gangs are known.

Luigi Giuliano is a former Italian Camorrista who was the boss of the powerful Giuliano clan, based in the district of Forcella, Naples. He had multiple nicknames including "'o rre" and "Lovigno", which is an amalgamation of Luigi and love. In 2002, he decided to collaborate with Italian law enforcement and became a pentito, a co-operating witness against organised crime.

Pupetta is legendary.

During the 80s war between NCO and NF, Maresca held a press conference in which she openly threatened Raffaele Cutolo and the New Organized Camorra. "If by New Family means all those people who defend themselves against the overwhelming power of this man, then I consider myself affiliated to this organization."

Pupetta had a very dark side. He was the girlfriend of Umberto Ammaturo that trafficked coke from Perù for the NF. The Pupetta son never accepted the thing and menaced Ammaturo. In 1974 pasquale Simonetti jr vanished and the body was never found, everything thinked to Ammaturo but wasnt proofs against him.
But Maresca continue the relation until Ammaturo was arrested in Perù with an another and rich girlfriend.
